First of all, do you know where the name of this new perfume comes from? It all began in 1957, when Hubert de Givenchy decided to create a perfume for his lifelong muse: the British actress Audrey Hepburn. L’Interdit did not yet carry its definitive name and was absolutely not intended to be sold to the general public. It was only a few years later that the designer decided to share his creation with all women. While L’Interdit is known worldwide today, at the time, this idea did not please the actress Audrey Hepburn, who told the designer: I forbid you to! This is how the name of this fragrance was found… going on to become one of the most refined and romantic perfumes in the entire history of women’s perfumery. Today, L’Interdit comes in several editions, notably as an Eau de Parfum and now as an Eau de Toilette.

L’Interdit Eau de Toilette, a floral and contrasted essence in a retro bottle

L’Interdit Eau de Toilette comes in Givenchy’s emblematic bottle, famous for its timeless cylindrical shape. The considerable weight of its glass here stands as a guarantee of the house’s refinement. For this new Eau de Toilette edition, Givenchy chose to preserve its silhouette from the past. Its transparent base reveals a pink and feminine juice. Its small ribbon, however, has swapped its original black color for a pearl gray for the Eau de Toilette. A small pendant bearing the Givenchy logo in relief is fixed at its neck. Finally, the name of the perfume is now written in orange lettering.

In terms of scent, L’Interdit Eau de Toilette by Givenchy reuses the main ingredients of its predecessor, L’Interdit Givenchy Eau de Parfum, namely tuberose and orange blossom. Thus, these raw materials give it a luminous, Mediterranean and floral breath. Poppy, however, is new. It makes its appearance in the heart of this fragrance, making it drier and earthier. For more animalic depth, L’Interdit Eau de Toilette contains a sensual musk facet. Its airy and luminous opening freshness gradually gives way to a woodier base. L’Interdit Eau de Toilette ends with a combination of patchouli and vetiver. This highly nuanced and harmonious perfume owes its existence to three talented perfumers, namely Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal.
