Little by little, Givenchy managed to adopt a timeless style that won many devotees. It was in 1958 that the couture house ventured into perfumery with L'Interdit, a fragrance in honor of Audrey Hepburn. In 1984, Givenchy unveiled Ysatis, a feminine chypre-floral fragrance, which won over perfumeries worldwide.

Ysatis, the perfect balance between flowers, woods and spices

It was Dominique Ropion, a talented perfumer, who was tasked with finding the perfect balance between flowers, woods and spices. Ysatis opens on very vivid and dynamic notes, those of Brazilian mandarin and Asia Minor galbanum. The heart is essentially floral with the presence of jasmine, rose, tuberose, carnation and iris. The mysterious and sensual base is composed of Indonesian patchouli, Java vetiver, Yugoslavian oakmoss, musks, Tahitensis vanilla, sandalwood and Canadian castoreum, which leaves an animalic sillage. Givenchy wanted to incorporate ingredients from around the world in order to represent a multitude of women. Beneath its many facets, Ysatis conceals a rare and subtle scent. As for the heavy faceted glass bottle, it displays a slender silhouette. The opaque sides echo the equally opaque cabochon and add a final touch of elegance and sensuality.
