About

A perfume encyclopedia

Olfastory is an encyclopedia and magazine devoted to perfume. Each page describes a perfume as it actually exists: its creation, its perfumer, its composition layer by layer, what critics say about it, the ingredient list on its label, its bottle and its advertising.

Around these pages, the site connects houses, perfumers, raw materials and olfactory families. A history of perfume, from ancient Egypt to the 21st century, pages on manufacturing techniques and a blog round out the whole.

Our aim

To offer, for every perfume, the most complete and accurate page possible. Verified information matters more than abundant information: when a fact cannot be established, the page leaves it out rather than guessing it. The Methodology page explains this way of working.

Olfastory is published in French, English and Spanish. Pages grow richer as new sources appear, and new perfumes join the encyclopedia every day.

Shopping links

Some pages offer links to retailers that sell the perfume. Some of these links are affiliate links: a purchase made after a click may earn Olfastory a commission. The legal notice lists the programs concerned.

Contact us

A mistake on a page, a missing perfume, a question: the contact form (in French) is the best way to reach us. Every correction reported is checked before it is made on the site.
