Givenchy’s L’Interdit in its Eau de Toilette version
With L’Interdit, the house founded by Hubert de Givenchy entered the world of perfumery in 1957, offering this very first perfume inspired by the great Audrey Hepburn, a close friend of the designer and couturier. In 2018, the house of Givenchy revived the legend by offering a brand new creation of this L’Interdit, which fascinates with its flowers, sometimes luminous, sometimes sensual. So what can be expected in 2019 from the new concentration, L’Interdit Eau de Toilette?

We are in the mid-1950s. While Hubert de Givenchy had already been established in haute couture for some time, he also wanted to create a perfume, so passionate was he about feminine fragrances. To do so, he drew on the extraordinary personality of his muse Audrey Hepburn and, in 1957, presented L’Interdit. This perfume, so sensual and so feminine, would leave its mark on the world, and even today no one has forgotten its singular scents, between flowers, notes with a masculine-feminine style and such beautiful sensuality.
In 2018, perfumers Dominique Ropion, Fanny Bal and Anne Flipo chose to put their talents to work for Givenchy in order to revive this legendary perfume, giving it the same contrasts between light and femininity, masculine vetiver notes and the ultra sensuality of vanilla animalic notes.
In order to compose a lighter version of L’Interdit, this same trio of perfumers composed for L’Interdit Eau de Toilette a fragrance that remains just as captivating but this time more powdery, thanks to poppy flower, between delicacy and an intense narcotic effect…
When poppy plays the star guest of L’Interdit Eau de Toilette
For L’Interdit Eau de Parfum, Fanny Bal, Dominique Ropion and Anne Flipo had worked on their fragrant composition to offer a feminine portrait full of contrast, in the image of the 2018 woman moreover; the perfumers explained at the time to Femme d’Aujourd’hui: The creation of L’Interdit was a true exploration of our vision of the Givenchy woman. A creative discussion during which we were all able to explore different paths before reaching the perfect balance between strength and grace, modernity and timelessness.
For this new, lighter opus, L’Interdit Eau de Toilette, the talented trio did away with the animalic ambroxan notes as well as the pear top notes, replacing them with a rather original opening of poppy. Indeed, by nature, poppy, like the corn poppy, is a scentless flower; however, it can be recreated through powdery accords with a mysterious, smoky effect, as is the case in L’Interdit Eau de Toilette. At the heart, the sunny and highly feminine splendor of orange blossom and tuberose remains in this L’Interdit Eau de Toilette, but musk comes to punctuate these flowers with its warmth. Of course, L’Interdit Eau de Toilette retains its singular signature of vetiver which, paired with patchouli, offers an intense sensuality.
