L'Interdit Rouge

L’Interdit Rouge is the Eau de Parfum Givenchy added in 2021 to L’Interdit, relaunched in 2018, under the signature of its three perfumers, Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal. The house sets the line’s white bouquet of jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom ablaze with a spicy red accord of blood orange, ginger and pimento leaf, over a base of patchouli and sandalwood.

Givenchy launched L’Interdit Rouge in 2021, three years after reviving L’Interdit, the perfume Hubert de Givenchy had first reserved for Audrey Hepburn before releasing it in 1957. The 2018 formula is entirely new; Rouge is one of its variations.

The 2018 perfumers

Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal, the three perfumers behind the 2018 L’Interdit, sign Rouge. The fragrance joins the 2019 Eau de Toilette and the 2020 Intense among the variations on their formula, and comes as an Eau de Parfum.

A tribute to red

Givenchy presents Rouge as a tribute to red, the house’s emblematic color, and calls it incandescent. For the house, it awakens the carnal thrill that smolders within the white bouquet of L’Interdit, the underground flower it places at the center of the whole line.

The house also stresses how it is made: the perfume is produced in France, in the Ateliers Givenchy, from natural materials whose origin it says it knows, worked with traditional techniques. Rooney Mara, the face of L’Interdit since 2018, remains its muse.
