Bloom Eau de Toilette

Alessandro Michele is a designer who was appointed creative director of the Italian house Gucci in 2015. Since then, he has brought a profound singularity to the house. With him, women are different and authentic. To accompany them in their emancipation, Alessandro Michele also created a fragrance, in 2017: Gucci Bloom. Reinvented on several occasions, it is still making headlines in 2022 with a new concentrate of light. It becomes Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette.

Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette, a fragrance of freedom

Alessandro Michele is a man who does not care what people think. He makes authenticity his watchword and invites women to follow exactly this philosophy. After all, is that not the best way to stand out and reveal one's full charm? Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette was thus precisely designed to convey this philosophy. It is akin to an immense garden bursting with flowers and plants, a bouquet of abundance. This wild garden, overflowing with color, reflects the beauty of women in their diversity, explains Alessandro Michele. Everything can be found there. Gucci Bloom is the fragrance of this garden. It carries one away to somewhere else. From then on, the woman who wears this fragrance is meant to be more singular. Through her difference, she blossoms and flourishes before our eyes. She expresses herself and lives as she pleases, never letting herself be constrained by convention.

Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette, a luminous creation

Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette comes in a frosted, luminous bottle, entirely opaque, and tinted with a pink lacquer resembling porcelain. Its embossed paper label reveals its name while also bearing the Toile de Jouy Herbarium motif. This depicts, more precisely, cherry blossom leaves and flowers. Yet these ingredients are entirely absent from the formula of Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette. Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette does indeed contain flowers, but these are closer to orange blossom than to cherry blossom. In its top notes and heart notes, Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette releases the same olfactory trio. This is composed of jasmine, tuberose and Rangoon creeper. This last ingredient is very rarely used by perfumers. Here it unfolds a typically tropical scent, while blending with a generous bouquet of white flowers. The jasmine is deep and sensual. Infinitely sun-kissed, it releases a scent that is sometimes honeyed, sometimes greener or fruitier. The tuberose, in turn, no doubt reveals the most carnal facet of this composition. Finally, in its base notes, Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette becomes more luminous and radiant. This effect is achieved through the presence of neroli, an absolute obtained from the distillation of orange blossom. The result is an ultimate floral breath, rich and suave.

Olfastory’s review

Gucci Bloom was the very first fragrance entirely developed under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele. Indeed, he took up his position at the Italian house Gucci in 2015 and Gucci Bloom made its way onto feminine perfumery shelves in 2017. This generous bouquet of white flowers was subsequently reinvented twice, becoming Gucci Bloom Acqua di Fiori and Gucci Bloom Nettare di Fiori. In 2022, history repeats itself and Gucci presents a brighter fragrance named Gucci Bloom Eau de Toilette. Here is our review.

The advertising

Surreal garden of La Scarzuola

Campaign created by Floria Sigismondi at La Scarzuola, with Anjelica Huston, Florence Welch, Jodie Turner-Smith and Susie Cave.

Floria Sigismondi directed and photographed the Bloom campaign, shot at the ancient site of La Scarzuola: a surreal architectural complex built around a Franciscan convent, with wishing wells, water gardens and overflowing floral displays. The film opens with Florence Welch wandering through its abandoned theaters.

Four women of the Bloom family appear in it: Anjelica Huston, Florence Welch, Jodie Turner-Smith and Susie Cave. The credits mention Alessandro Michele's creative direction for Gucci, the agency Simmonds ltd. with Christopher Simmonds as creative director, and Fade Into You by Mazzy Star for the soundtrack. Alessandro Michele describes a dream of a psychedelic nature, suspended in time, in which these four women embody four ways of being a woman.

These images first accompanied Bloom Profumo di Fiori, and press sources indicate that the campaign returns to the same landscape for the eau de toilette, without allowing one to distinguish with certainty the visuals specific to the 2022 version.
