L'Interdit Givenchy
Givenchy revisits its perfume L'Interdit. At Givenchy, as at many other perfume houses, the time has come for looking back at memories. This major creative house has chosen, for this fall 2018 season, to offer a piece of its history.

Where to buy
Givenchy invites us to rediscover one of its most famous perfumes, initially created in 1967. It is called L'Interdit. It makes its grand return and is modernized on the occasion of this reinterpretation. In doing so, Givenchy addresses today's women while preserving a retro spirit.
L'Interdit by Givenchy, a legendary perfume
L'Interdit by Givenchy tells the story of a man and a woman. Hubert de Givenchy, the famous couturier, had made Audrey Hepburn, the world-famous English actress, his muse. He saw in her his source of inspiration and did not hesitate to create a perfume for her. A magnificent tribute of tenderness and friendship, it was at first intended for her alone. It was only later that Hubert de Givenchy decided to extend its sale to all women and to make his tribute public. He first had the idea of calling his perfume Audrey, but the actress refused. I forbid you to! she told him. This is how this legendary perfume found its name. As one can see, Givenchy's new fragrance takes us back into the creator's very personal memories.
L'Interdit, an enormous bouquet of white flowers
L'Interdit by Givenchy from 2018 is a very feminine and floral perfume. Presented in a modern and refined bottle, it evokes a passionate seduction without being overly sultry. Behind its false innocence lies a highly contrasted composition. Created by Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal, this fragrance is built around white flowers. It opens on a combination of orange blossom and sambac jasmine, before developing into a heart of tuberose. L'Interdit by Givenchy then contrasts this luminosity with darker notes. L'Interdit closes with a trio of patchouli, vetiver and Ambroxan. The result is a chic and unforgettable perfume, at once intense and fragile. L'Interdit by Givenchy is unmatched in making one feel a thrill.
Rooney Mara, new face of L'Interdit Givenchy
From then on, all that was missing was a face of the campaign to embody the image of this new perfume. Givenchy decided to choose the talented Rooney Mara, also nicknamed the modern-day Audrey Hepburn. As a side note, the American actress saw her career take off in 2011 thanks to her role as Lisbeth Salander, the lead character in The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo by David Fincher, an adaptation of the Millennium book series by Stieg Larsson. This notably earned her an Oscar nomination and a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a Drama. Here, she appears in a little black dress, her smile accented with a flamboyant red lipstick. More than ever, Rooney Mara perfectly embodies the image of a timeless, chic and bewitching femininity.

The advertising
The advertisement for the feminine perfume L'Interdit by Givenchy
Recently, the house of Givenchy chose to bring one of its most famous perfumes back into the spotlight. Initially created in 1957, L'Interdit is once again brought to the forefront. A tribute to bold and modern femininity, it appears as a liberating talisman. This refined yet daring fragrance offers a particularly intense floral and woody scent. As befits any respectable olfactory novelty, L'Interdit already comes with an advertisement. In barely a minute, L'Interdit draws us into its world. Focus on the first images of this television clip featuring the talented Rooney Mara.
Rooney Mara, face of the campaign for Givenchy
For its new perfume, the house of Givenchy chose Rooney Mara as its face of the campaign. A New York actress, Rooney Mara already has numerous films to her credit. Her fame literally exploded thanks to her role as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, the film adaptation of Stieg Larsson's novel, alongside Daniel Craig. Today, still flirting with the forbidden, the young woman becomes the face of the campaign for L'Interdit by Givenchy, a perfume in which she easily recognizes herself. For her, L'Interdit is a mix of contrasting sensations: it is both sun-kissed and dark. And I am also drawn to its name, which questions what is or is not allowed, which encourages one to break free. And then, its bouquet - jasmine, patchouli… - awakens in me memories of travel and of the globe-trotter I once was: at 17, I set off alone to travel across South America. Romain Spitzer, President of Givenchy Parfums, adds that her refined bearing and the intensity she radiates perfectly match the world of the new perfume L'Interdit.
When L'Interdit takes us into the depths of the Paris metro
The advertisement for L'Interdit by Givenchy was directed by Todd Haynes and reveals the underground yet no less couture touch of the fragrance. This television clip unfolds over two different musical pieces: Berlin By Overnight by Max Richter and Deceive by Trentemøller. This advertisement runs no longer than a minute, but that is enough to draw us into a particularly unusual and almost illicit world. The film begins at a fashionable Parisian party. This does not last long, and Rooney Mara quickly decides to leave this dull atmosphere to head into the corridors of the Paris metro, more precisely into the heart of the disused Porte des Lilas station. As she moves forward, the atmosphere becomes charged, lit up by a few colored neon lights. The beauty finally leaves us in front of a door behind which a much more eventful party seems to be unfolding than the first. Rooney Mara finally reappears in the early morning. Nothing is revealed to us about what really happened behind that door. Rooney Mara simply seems to have flirted with L'Interdit…
