For fervent admirers of the house of Chanel, it is well known that the lion is an ever-present part of its history. Indeed, Gabrielle Chanel very often incorporated this animal into her creations, whether in certain garments or as a button or on her jewelry. Gabrielle Chanel was also born under the zodiac sign of Leo. She then drew on this symbol as a token of courage, strength and grace. It is therefore only natural that the lion now holds a place within her fragrance line.
The prestigious Exclusifs de Chanel collection
Le Lion de Chanel joins one of perfumery's most luxurious lineups: the Exclusifs de Chanel. This olfactory assortment brings together several noble essences, referencing significant moments, key dates or important elements in the history of Chanel. All the fragrances making up this collection are also crafted from highly refined raw materials. Le Lion de Chanel is, like its predecessors, a symbol of luxury, refinement and rarity. With it, Olivier Polge made the animal a figurehead of daring, strength and elegance: he states that he was much more interested in the emblematic Chanel lion than in the animal itself.
The oriental and animalic breath of Le Lion de Chanel
Le Lion de Chanel is an animalic fragrance, built around amber and powerful notes. It opens first on a very fresh and sparkling combination of citrus. Bergamot and lemon merge into one to form an invigorating and highly energizing surge. Then, Le Lion de Chanel evolves toward warmer, oriental tonalities. Labdanum resin is used here for its animalic connotations. The whole is then carried forward by a base of Madagascar vanilla, particularly suave. Musk further amplifies the sensuality of this fragrance. Finally, patchouli and sandalwood provide structure to the whole, while also giving it greater longevity.
Le Lion de Chanel is expected to launch in the Middle Eastern market starting in May 2020, then from January 2021 in the rest of the world.
