Poison is THE cult perfume of the 1980s. The perfume of opulence with a taste of the forbidden, the perfume of every excess, of every most bewitching flower as well as the most animalic notes. Edouard Fléchier's composition for Poison is formidable in its sensuality and warmth, and it is inimitable. So when the house of Dior chose to give descendants to this love potion, they were composed with the utmost care to be worthy of the original fragrance while also being sufficiently original not to resemble too closely the 1985 juice.

The best known of all Poison's flankers is of course Hypnotic Poison, but Tendre Poison from 1994 and Pure Poison created in 2004 have the merit of tackling the myth by clearly offering a version completely opposite to Poison, a challenge for perfumers in short!

As far as Pure Poison is concerned, the challenge is truly considerable: Olivier Polge, Dominique Ropion and Carlos Benaim were tasked with creating a luminous antidote to Poison, a Counter-Poison in short. The three great talents of perfumery thus set out to tackle the mythical Poison by taking its orange blossom and coloring it with luminous, sun-kissed notes.

Pure Poison opens with a fresh and dynamic start of Calabrian bergamot, orange and mandarin. Then, at the heart, white flowers, including the famous orange blossom, brighten the top with an armful of jasmine and gardenia. Finally, musks, amber and sandalwood play on their delicate depths to wrap us in their smooth, creamy blend.

The elegance of Dior perfumes thus remains in precious floral notes typical of the house, save for the presence of gardenia, which likes to surprise us.
