L’Interdit Rouge is the Eau de Parfum Givenchy added in 2021 to L’Interdit, relaunched in 2018, under the signature of its three perfumers, Dominique Ropion, Anne Flipo and Fanny Bal. The house sets the line’s white bouquet of jasmine, tuberose and orange blossom ablaze with a spicy red accord of blood orange, ginger and pimento leaf, over a base of patchouli and sandalwood.
Givenchy describes L’Interdit Rouge as a spicy, woody floral. The heart holds the line’s white bouquet: the house now details it as absolutes of Tunisian orange blossom and Indian sambac jasmine; at launch, it named tuberose alongside the jasmine.
A spicy red accord ignites these flowers: Sicilian blood orange essence, ginger and pimento leaf. The base pairs Indonesian patchouli heart essence with New Caledonian sandalwood, to which the house lends a suave softness; vetiver completes it in the 2021 list.
Compared with the 2018 L’Interdit, which sets its white flowers against a base of patchouli, vetiver and ambroxan, Rouge has neither pear nor bergamot: blood orange and spices open the bouquet, and sandalwood replaces vanilla in the base.
