Libre L'Absolu Platine Absolu de Parfum

Yves Saint Laurent put Libre L’Absolu Platine on sale on August 28, 2023. A new variation on Libre, born in 2019, it takes up the tension between Moroccan orange blossom and French lavender that defines the line, this time pulling it toward the cold.

The formula comes from the duo who composed Libre, Anne Flipo and Carlos Benaïm. Interviewed by Elle in October 2023, they explain that they had explored heat and incandescence in the earlier versions, and sought here an intensity that runs through freshness and sensuality.

Anne Flipo recalled on that occasion that Libre was her first feminine creation for the house: seven years of development, more than fifteen hundred trials and a code name, “Boyish.” She saw herself as the masculine side of the duo, Carlos Benaïm as the feminine side.

For L’Absolu Platine, the perfumer says it was time lavender had its own opus in the line. She built the composition around a white lavender accord created for the house, wrapped in vanilla and orange blossom.

The house presents the fragrance as the highest concentration in the Libre line, inspired by the meeting of gold and platinum. It classifies it in the floral family and sells it in ten, fifty and ninety milliliters.

Dua Lipa, the face of Libre since 2019, lends her image to the launch. Yves Saint Laurent Beauté ties the line to the freedom the couturier claimed when he dressed women in the tuxedo, in 1966.
