L’Heure Bleue is certainly one of the greatest perfumes of the house of Guerlain. Born in 1905, L’Heure Bleue paints for us a dreamlike landscape between the first shadows of night and the last rays of sun, between the warmth of oriental scents and sun-kissed flowers and the freshness of sharp, citrus notes. L’Heure Bleue also represents a feat of technical skill, as it was the first perfume to blend synthetic raw materials with natural essences.

Having become a legend of Jacques Guerlain’s artistry, L’Heure Bleue has managed to cross the decades without losing any of its splendor. True to its prestigious past, Guerlain chose to pay tribute to L’Heure Bleue by giving it a perfumed descendant with Thierry Wasser’s composition: L’Heure de Nuit.
L’Heure de Nuit managed to capture the beauty of L’Heure Bleue without attempting to imitate it. Thus L’Heure de Nuit is softer and more floral, yet retains the same impressionistic charm as its iconic elder.

Flowers, citrus and powdery sweetness for a voluptuous Heure de Nuit by Guerlain

Thierry Wasser thus did not seek to imitate its ancestor in composing L’Heure de Nuit, and this is certainly one of his finest achievements, as L’Heure de Nuit recalls its elder through certain accords while evoking a softer, powdery moment through new elements such as white musks or greatly accentuated powdery notes.

L’Heure de Nuit thus opens, like L’Heure Bleue, on citrus and aromatic notes paired with a sun-kissed, exotic orange blossom, continuing to symbolize in scent this twilight moment when the sun begins to hide and the night begins to sparkle. A fruity touch of peach lends its velvety quality to these top notes. At the heart, jasmine and rose intertwine to offer L’Heure de Nuit a resplendent floral beauty. Then vanilla, heliotrope and white musks form a cottony, enveloping and gourmand sillage, which becomes powdered with a few precious iris flowers.
