L'Heure de Nuit

Thierry Wasser, Guerlain’s perfumer, created L’Heure de Nuit in 2012 for the centenary of L’Heure Bleue, which Jacques Guerlain had composed in 1912. The house sees it as a tribute: one hundred years later, a “watercolor” variation on an impressionist-inspired fragrance.

For the anniversary, Guerlain dressed L’Heure Bleue in a limited bottle and entrusted Wasser with a new eau de parfum orchestration, Elena Vosnaki reported on Perfume Shrine in November 2012. The 1912 formula remains on sale in all its concentrations.

Thomas Dunckley (The Candy Perfume Boy) describes a trio of limited editions signed by Wasser: L’Aurore, Le Crépuscule, and Le Zénith. The last, an eau de parfum, joined the Les Parisiennes collection under the name L’Heure de Nuit.

A Guerlain boutique exclusive

L’Heure de Nuit belongs to the house’s Exclusive Collections, reserved in France for Guerlain’s Paris boutiques and its website. In late 2012, Vosnaki announced a January 2013 release in Guerlain boutiques and the house’s counters, from Bergdorf Goodman to Harrods.

The house’s narrative

Guerlain speaks of a new light cast on L’Heure Bleue, a radiance imbued with freshness and modernity. The house evokes the magic and mystery of Paris by night, a bewitching and magnetic twilight, between dream and reality.

It claims a subtle balance between delicacy and personality, and gives the fragrance its bee bottle in an exclusive 125 ml size, housed in an amethyst case that turns into a jewelry box.
