Idôle Eau de Toilette

Lancôme opens a fifth door onto Idôle in 2024, and this is the first eau de toilette in the line. The house looks here for a vegetal freshness, where the 2019 eau de parfum held a musky, chypre floral.

The three perfumers of 2019 sign this one as well: Shyamala Maisondieu, Nadège Le Garlantezec and Adriana Medina. The trio had already worked on Idôle Aura and Idôle L’Intense, and keeps rose here as the thread running through the house.

A first-harvest green tea

Shincha designates in Japan the first harvest of the year, the most tender and the greenest. Lancôme draws from it an accord built on Teadione, a molecule that carries the odor of fresh leaf and matcha.

It is the note that sets this eau de toilette apart from the four Idôle fragrances already in the catalog. It lays down a green of stem and infusion, without tannic bitterness, and the rose stands out against a greenery rather than a bed of fruits.

A duo of roses

Rose remains Lancôme's emblematic flower, and the eau de toilette takes it in two forms. A rosewater and a petal essence obtained by steam distillation, worked to keep the flower close to its harvest.

Damask rose holds the warm, honeyed register there, rosewater the watery, pale register. The flower holds the heart under these two forms, without either ever covering the other.

A cold-distilled bergamot

Lancôme announces a trio of Italian bergamot oils, one of which goes through cold molecular distillation. The process serves to preserve the most fleeting molecules of the peel, those that the heat of a classic distillation carries away.

The result pulls the citrus toward the tangy and zesty rather than the bitter. Bergamot runs from the top all the way into the heart and forms the link between the tea and the flower.

A base of wood and vanilla

The base picks up Idôle's foundation: an infusion of Madagascar Bourbon vanilla, cedarwood, patchouli and musk. This is the part of the line that the eau de toilette keeps intact.

This foundation stays discreet beneath the green top. It holds the flower and keeps it from turning into a hydrolat, without ever taking over the fragrance or changing its color.

Idôle Eau de Toilette comes in spray bottles of 25, 50 and 100 milliliters, in the line's flat bottle. The campaign is still carried by Zendaya, face of Idôle since the 2019 launch.
