Hot Couture

Hot Couture came out at Givenchy in 2000. Alberto Morillas and Jacques Cavallier composed it, and the name plays on the expression haute couture: the house wanted a perfume that would enhance a woman’s body the way a dress from its workrooms would.

A perfume apart

Jessica, of Now Smell This, finds it stands apart in the house’s catalog: neither classic like L’Interdit, nor in the vein of the Very Irresistible line, nor showy like Amarige or Organza, Givenchy’s powerful perfumes of the 1990s.

The official description of the time spoke of a creation combining sensuality and glamour, refinement and elegance, for an original, slightly provocative woman. It announced a voluptuous perfume with spicy and woody notes: raspberry nectar, magnolia, amber vetiver.

Two concentrations

Hot Couture exists as an eau de parfum and an eau de toilette. Givenchy today classes the first among the fruity orientals, built around raspberry, magnolia and amber vetiver, and the second among the floral fruity fragrances, built around raspberry, magnolia and Damask rose.

Les Mythiques

In 2022, Givenchy dressed Hot Couture in a new bottle and placed it in Les Mythiques, its collection of emblematic perfumes. The house calls this bottle faithful to the purity dear to Hubert de Givenchy, and states that only the bottle changed, not the formula.

The eau de toilette is now sold in 100 ml. Givenchy presents it as a second-skin feminine perfume, between bold style and refined elegance, that enhances the female body in the manner of a haute couture creation.
