Nadège Le Garlantezec

Delving into the world of Nadège Le Garlantezec is akin to discovering perfumery in its most sparkling form. Surrounded by a multitude of bottles and a wide array of blotters, she crafts fragrances for some of the biggest brands in the world. Moreover, Nadège Le Garlantezec works for one of the most renowned houses in perfumery: Givaudan. So how did she get there? What were her sources of inspiration? And how did her desire to become a perfumer come about?

Perfumery, a passion born in childhood

It was as a child that Nadège Le Garlantezec discovered the world of perfumery. She recalls that one day she was given a sample of L’Air du Temps by Nina Ricci, a fragrance both floral and musky, as though from another time. This juice dated back to 1948 and came in a bottle by the house of Lalique. Everything about it immediately fascinated the creator, both its scent and its visual. Nevertheless, up until then, Nadège Le Garlantezec had been more drawn to other creative fields such as art history or music. Later, she visited the Osmothèque in Versailles (or International Perfume Conservatory). This only confirmed her first impression. Nadège Le Garlantezec says she was especially moved by L’Eau de Napoléon, a scent offering a true journey through time. It was then that she realized she wanted to turn her budding passion into a profession. Nadège Le Garlantezec fully intended to leave her mark on history by creating the most beautiful fragrances.

Nadège Le Garlantezec’s professional journey

In order to reach her goal, Nadège Le Garlantezec embarked on chemistry studies. She earned a science degree, which allowed her to enter one of the most prestigious perfumery schools in the world: the ISIPCA in Versailles. Once she graduated from this institution, Nadège Le Garlantezec managed to land a position at the world’s largest fragrance and flavor company: Givaudan. What is more, the house completed her training with three additional years. Still employed by this company today, Nadège Le Garlantezec has thus secured a place of choice in the perfume industry. For her, smelling and creating fragrances is not simply a gift. She sees perfumery instead as a highly studied art, a field at the crossroads of creativity and science. Nadège Le Garlantezec says she learned a great deal from her mentor, Antoine Maisondieu. He took her under his wing and guided her through her first creations. Now, Nadège Le Garlantezec is flying on her own. In fact, she was quickly noticed. As early as 2006, she received the Prix International du Jeune Parfumeur Créateur. Generally speaking, Nadège Le Garlantezec likes to compose fairly short formulas, rarely exceeding 60 ingredients.
