Miss Dior thus offers in 2005 a fragrance that delicately blends the great chypre perfume classics with the fruity and gourmand modernities of the new millennium. The Miss Dior woman is therefore an elegant adventurer, chic and impertinent, who takes flight with as much grace as her fragrance.

Miss Dior, or the elegant and resolutely modern daughter of Christian Dior

The house of Dior creates for each of its fragrances entirely different universes, while remaining in complete accordance with the brand's values. If J'adore delights in gilded, luxurious trappings, Miss Dior offers a great burst of flowers that recalls, of course, Christian Dior's great passion. A wall of flowers, close-ups on bouquets, rose petals: Natalie Portman, the sublime face of the campaign for Miss Dior, acts as the beautiful heir to Christian Dior's genius. Indeed, he stated: My perfume? My dear, I have only one. It is Miss Dior, my only daughter.

However, Miss Dior is also the fragrance of a colorful and free feminine universe, for the woman depicted by the delicate fragrances of this beautiful perfume is a model of energy who breaks conventions; she is above all an adventurous heroine, governed by impulses of the heart, according to Dior's communications. Thus visuals such as the first advertising spot play on this image, at once glamorous and romantic, of a seductive woman ready to marry on her father's arm, who then reveals another, rebellious and determined side by escaping into the air to fly to her true love.

The Miss Dior woman is therefore a romantic and modern heroine with whom any woman can easily identify. The choice of Natalie Portman as the face of the campaign for Miss Dior, with her beauty and character as powerful as her character on screen, seemed self-evident.

Miss Dior, a floral and gourmand chypre of its time

Miss Dior is the delicate blend of the ancestral traditions tied to perfume-making at the house of Dior, and a wind of innovative, avant-garde freshness. So that this subtle blend of past and future remains balanced, every detail of the Miss Dior fragrance is carefully considered. Thus, for instance, the square bottle in deep, luminous transparent glass was the one used for the original fragrance released in 1947, and the elegant bow on the cap is a powerful historical symbol of the brand. The rosy hue of the juice, glimpsed through the faceted glass, is, conversely, sparkling with modernity and glamour.

As for the composition of Miss Dior, it too plays on these same contrasts. Built on classic chypre accords, it offers the sweetness and gourmand quality of contemporary fragrances. In the top notes, lemon, mandarin, and bergamot provide bright, tangy freshness to better set off the whirlwind of flowers and fruits offered by the heart notes. Thus, notes of pineapple, strawberry, and peach offer their gourmand facets in association with beautiful, springlike floral notes of gardenia, jasmine, neroli, and rose. Finally, the power of Miss Dior's deep sillage is traced by notes of labdanum and patchouli, delicately accented with white musks and gourmand caramel.

Miss Dior is therefore a fragrance that delights in playing the tightrope walker between the rich past inherited from the great house of Dior and thoroughly modern gusts of fruity flowers. The complexity of the fragrant composition and the richness of a campaign that is both aesthetic and delicately impertinent give Miss Dior the scent of freedom it has always sought...

The advertising

Created in 1947, Miss Dior is Christian Dior's very first perfume. It was created as a tribute to his sister Catherine. Miss Dior represents both femininity and the values of the house of Dior. In 2005, François Demachy, the house's official perfumer, sought to reinterpret Dior's flagship fragrance by giving it a more modern edge. Chic and impertinent, the new Miss Dior reaffirms the values dear to Christian Dior's heart. Romantic and free, Miss Dior is above all a contemporary, floral chypre fragrance.

Miss Dior, a rebellious bride in its advertising

To represent its flagship fragrance, Dior sought to convey the image of a modern, free woman who makes her own decisions. Since 2010, Natalie Portman has been the face of the campaign for Miss Dior. In 2015, the brand renewed its advertising and presented Natalie Portman as a rebellious bride. In this advertisement, where color alternates with black and white, the face of the campaign is to be married, but nothing goes as planned. While her father walks her down the aisle, Natalie Portman escapes from her own wedding, which takes place in Antibes in the gardens of the Hôtel du Cap-Eden-Roc. In this clip directed by Anton Corbijn, set to Janis Joplin's Piece of my Heart, the beauty asserts her freedom and bold spirit by taking a helicopter to Paris to live her life as she sees fit.

In this clip she appears in a glamorous wedding dress, concealing an ultra sexy black dress underneath. A radiant bride with bouquet in hand, the beauty nevertheless abandons the ceremony and its guests to join her lover by helicopter. According to Anton Corbijn, director of the clip and also a photographer, Miss Dior is the story of a singular, beautiful, and inspiring woman who has the audacity to take the leap, to claim a future that will be fully her own.

The first fragrance from the house of Dior, Miss Dior is a landmark within the brand. Miss Dior was reinterpreted in 2005 by François Demachy. More modern and freer, the new Miss Dior is represented by Natalie Portman, in a clip worthy of this flagship perfume.
