Diva Eau de Parfum

Emanuel Ungaro launched Diva in 1983: it was his house’s first fragrance, dedicated to women. Jacques Polge, of Chanel, signed the formula, with François Demachy according to critics. A chypre oriental for the house, it brings together aldehydes, citrus, spices and tuberose in the top, rose, iris, narcissus and ylang-ylang in the heart, and honey, patchouli, amber and sandalwood in the base.

Emanuel Ungaro launched Diva in 1983, eighteen years after founding his couture house. It was his first fragrance, and he dedicated it to women, his eternal source of inspiration; the house sees in it the portrait of a free woman with a magnetic personality and refined taste.

For the house, the formula is the work of Jacques Polge, then Chanel’s perfumer. Jeanne Doré, writing for Auparfum, and the blog Parfumista associate François Demachy with it, the other Chanel perfumer of the time; the encyclopedia Perfume Intelligence dates the fragrance to 1982.

The brand’s founding fragrance

The house launched Senso in 1987. In 1997, Emanuel Ungaro joined forces with Salvatore Ferragamo and Bulgari to create Emanuel Ungaro Parfums; Diva remains the brand’s founding fragrance, still sold as an eau de parfum.
