The perfumers Christine Nagel, François Demachy and Miss Dior Chérie

A child of Miss Dior, composed under the aegis of Christian Dior and Paul Vacher in 1947, Miss Dior Chérie dared to shake up the “fragrance of love” by offering it in 2005 to a generation of young women of the new millennium, far removed from the ladies of 1947.

Christine Nagel was thus the very first perfumer to have touched the myth of Miss Dior by giving it a composition that was much more modern and much more fruity with Miss Dior Chérie. To create this fragrance, much more modern yet still more restrained than Dior Addict, the perfumer says she drew inspiration from the young women of her time: To create this fragrance I immediately thought of those young girls who go out in the evening dressed in Dior from head to toe. I also imagined them carrying a huge bag of pink popcorn, chatting with each other while shopping. Christine Nagel on Miss Dior Chérie.

Yet, despite this bold blend of very modern gourmand notes and very Dior floral notes, Miss Dior Chérie created a surprise but also met with mixed success. It was notably for this reason that François Demachy wanted to rework Christine Nagel's composition in 2012, renaming it Miss Dior in order to bring it visibly closer to its precious elder from 1947, thenceforth named Miss Dior Original.

Between Miss Dior Chérie and Miss Dior, chypre-fruity impulses prevail

The very first Miss Dior Chérie signed by Christine Nagel in 2005 was thus particularly intended for an audience of young women who love sweetness and floral romanticism. Its top notes are fresh with mandarin, while its heart forms a bed of lovely jasmine and rose accords framed by strawberry and caramelized popcorn notes. Finally, the patchouli and musk of the depths remain, as in the original 1947 fragrance.

Deemed too far removed from the roots of the house of Dior and those of Miss Dior, Miss Dior Chérie was reworked once again by François Demachy to bring it closer to the more distinguished yet also fresher original juice. Thus, Miss Dior ex Chérie gained bergamot and lemon notes in its top notes, as well as other precious flowers in its heart such as neroli or gardenia blossoms. Finally, François Demachy accentuates the strong character of this Miss Dior ex Chérie by overdosing the labdanum, which beautifully enhances its chypre effect.
