Dune

Dune joins the Parfums Christian Dior catalogue in 1991. Jean-Louis Sieuzac and Dominique Ropion compose it. Persolaise adds Nejla Bsiri-Barbir to the credits, whom the house does not name.

The house describes it as an oceanic perfume attuned to nature, radiant, fresh and subtle, capturing a landscape where the sea meets the land.

After Poison

Victoria Frolova sets the context for the commission: in the early nineteen-nineties, the Dior development team was looking for a perfume that was ample yet restrained, and it had to succeed Poison.

She recalls how difficult the exercise was. Poison had become far more than a seasonal idea, and nothing guaranteed that a discreet fragrance could follow it.

A fresh oriental

Frolova classes Dune among fresh orientals, a rare category, and considers it underrated. She notes a fragrance that is vibrant and delicate given the richness of its raw materials.

Persolaise, who has worked with the strongest concentrations, hears in it a form of power lodged in the green, marine and amber facets, and a trajectory that leads from the valley to the summit.

What changes on October 1, 2026

Dune is among the thirteen perfumes that Francis Kurkdjian restores under the name Dioriginals, in the period he calls Dior in Paris.

Kurkdjian describes the fragrance as a citrus amber floral, and places it alongside Jules, Dolce Vita and Dioressence among the creations that four years of work in the archives have brought back to their original formula.

The Ovale bottle will house all thirteen: clear glass, a half-sphere cap, a white cord tied at the neck, designed in 1948 by Serge Heftler-Louiche.
