Miss Dior Eau de Toilette Originale

The eau de toilette carries the accord of Miss Dior, the perfume Christian Dior launched with his first couture collection in 1947. The house presents it as a lighter expression of this green floral chypre, which it calls avant-garde in its day and a great classic of its repertoire ever since.

Paul Vacher composed the formula, which Wikipedia and Elena Vosnaki also associate with Jean Carles. The jasmine, galbanum and patchouli that carry it today are the materials Dior retains from that postwar writing, green at the top and chypre in the base.

The name Originale

The suffix appeared in 2011, when Dior reserved the bare Miss Dior name for the former Chérie. Elena Vosnaki noted then that the classic Miss Dior was becoming the Eau de Toilette Originale; François Demachy, the house perfumer, retouched the formula that same year.

A repertoire eau de toilette

Dior sells it today in a 100 ml bottle, alongside the more concentrated Esprit de Parfum Original. The house’s American page adds a Grasse rose absolute to the bouquet, which the French page does not mention.
