Flowerbomb

Flowerbomb is the first fragrance from Viktor & Rolf, the house of Dutch designers Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. Launched in 2005 with L’Oréal and signed by Olivier Polge, Carlos Benaïm and Domitille Bertier, the eau de parfum brings together tea, bergamot, sambac jasmine, Cattleya orchid and rose over a base of amber and patchouli, in a faceted grenade-shaped bottle.

Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren, both Dutch, showed their first collection in Paris in 1993. Their house became known for conceptual fashion and highly staged runway shows. Flowerbomb, in 2005, was their first fragrance, developed under an agreement with L’Oréal.

Three perfumers signed the formula: Olivier Polge, Carlos Benaïm and Domitille Bertier. The name promises an explosion of flowers, and the house still presents Flowerbomb today as a floral profusion carried by warm woody notes.

A whole line

Flowerbomb opened a line of variations: an eau de toilette and Flowerbomb Extreme in 2007, La Vie en Rose in 2009, Rose Explosion in 2013, Bloom in 2017, Nectar in 2018 and Midnight in 2019, each presented in the same glass grenade.

Robin, writing on Now Smell This in July 2005, expected a big white floral from the name and found a sweet, almost dessert-like fragrance in which the flowers stay discreet.
