Flowerbomb, an explosion of freshness from Viktor Rolf Viktor Rolf is a haute couture house of Dutch origin with a fairly recent history. Indeed, it was created in 1993 by a duo of designers. Nevertheless, the rise of the brand was meteoric. Moreover, this rapid renown owes its success to the boldness of its two creators.
Behind Flowerbomb, there is of course the Swedish design duo Victor & Rolf, but also the three great perfume creators Carlos Benaïm, Domitille Bertier and Olivier Polge. In offering their very first perfume to an already won-over audience, the striking duo behind a provocative design vision wanted to astonish, move, and create an event. This was achieved with this Flowerbomb, which decidedly has not aged despite these ten years and even treats itself to a new flanker for its anniversary with Flowerbomb Bloom!
Flowerbomb, or the birth of the first perfume by Victor & Rolf
The designers Victor & Rolf have never gone unnoticed in the small glamorous world of French fashion. With extravagant designs, a sense of spectacle and a near-genius flair for provocation, the two Swedes managed to carve out a place for themselves in the world of haute couture worthy of their talents. But as early as the 2000s, the two men launched a new large-scale project: the creation of a Victor & Rolf perfume.
In order to give this project, aptly codenamed ADDICTIF, every chance of succeeding, Victor & Rolf turned to three great talents from the house IFF: Domitille Bertier, Olivier Polge and Carlos Benaïm. The creators began their work on Flowerbomb from tea notes wrapped in flowers, but very quickly, the noses had to contend with their clients' growing desire for gourmand and floral notes.
It is simple, Victor & Rolf, we nicknamed them Messieurs Plus. They always wanted more flowers, more power, more addiction, recounts Carlos Benaïm for Marie France about Flowerbomb.
In order to achieve the result desired by the designers, each worked on a part of the composition, confides Carlos Benaïm: we were not too many at three noses, Carlos Benaïm for the base accord, Domitille Bertier for the diffusion and Olivier Polge for the addictive note.
The Flowerbomb Viktor & Rolf perfume, or the provocation of the senses…
For three years, the perfumers carried out more than 500 trials in order to achieve the final composition of Flowerbomb. The result of this very first perfume is absolutely worthy of the grandiose ambitions of the Swedish design duo. Flowerbomb is unique, scandalously floral and thoroughly gourmand. Addiction in its purest form.
Yet Flowerbomb does not always win unanimous approval from the public. No matter, as long as people are talking about it! Its contrasts between intense freshness and opulent flowers, graceful floral femininity, and the animalic depths of the oriental, make Flowerbomb a thoroughly innovative perfume. However, make no mistake, despite its will to provoke, Flowerbomb does not hesitate to propel, within its cloud of 1001 flowers, luxurious and carefully sought raw materials such as sambac jasmine, centifolia rose or Cattleya orchid.
Because Flowerbomb is not merely a provocative perfume, it is above all a perfume meant to breathe joie de vivre, absolute femininity and a certain notion of elegance that is as timeless as it is irrevocably modern.
