Tendre Poison

Quite simply by waiting more than ten years after the release of Poison, in 1994, to offer us a botanical and dynamic antidote that would be named Tendre Poison. Do not look for anything venomous in this Tendre Poison, other than its famous tuberose note, which still carries us into wonderful fairy tales.

Tendre Poison, the very first descendant of Dior’s iconic Poison

By his own admission, its creator Edouard Fléchier would find it very difficult to go as far in a composition as he did with Poison in 1985. The overdose of spices, exotic and heady flowers, as well as animalic raw materials, made Poison a legendary fragrance that cannot be copied, nor even equaled.

It is precisely on this observation that the house of Dior waited almost ten years before offering a flanker to its iconic Poison, Tendre Poison. Moreover, in the 1990s, fragrance flankers were very rare, so Edouard Fléchier was doubly bold in proposing Tendre Poison alongside his immortal Poison.

Nevertheless, Tendre Poison managed to leave its mark, and not only because it was the first descendant of a family that would later become very extensive. It is above all its original and bold composition that made it a beautiful fragrance which, to the great dismay of its admirers, disappeared in the 2000s in favor of Hypnotic Poison or Midnight Poison. With Tendre Poison, Dior thus marked the return of Poison and the beginning of a long fragrant saga of original flankers set in a fantastical universe.

When tuberose becomes the star of the Tendre Poison fragrance…

While Tendre Poison aims to be a very different facet of its illustrious predecessor Poison, it nonetheless retains some of its characteristics.
The bottle, for example, was kept for Tendre Poison, while displaying a most vivid apple green to still distinguish itself from its predecessor and proudly display its lovely botanical colors.

Furthermore, despite numerous changes, Tendre Poison retains the tuberose that made the success of the first fragrance while pairing it with rather surprising new additions. Indeed, the so mysterious and opulent flower is first enhanced by citrus top notes, also made ultra dynamic thanks to galbanum. Then rose, orange blossom and freesia bring “Madame Tuberose” a lively, fruity elegance, at once fresh and delicate. Finally, vanilla, heliotrope and sandalwood turn velvety, nestling comfortably into white musks.

Tendre Poison thus managed to preserve the tuberose opulence that had made Poison famous while opening itself up to younger women more inclined toward floral and fresh fragrances. Tendre Poison tells us a new fantastical tale, but one dressed entirely in green and flowers.
