White musks

Originally, musk was of animal origin, which is why it was called animal musk. Musk came from the secretion of a gland of the musk deer, which at the time lived in Asia, Siberia or the Himalayas. Since harvesting musk often caused the animal's death, the method was later banned. The name white musk was given at the end of the 1800s. Since then, white musk has originated from organic research, and has become a synthetic molecule. White musks are today a family of scents.

White musks, an aphrodisiac scent

White musks offer around 30 different facets. The notes are, by turns, coppery, animalic, carnal, sensual, fruity, floral… White musk is so particular that not everyone perceives it the same way. Since its origin, white musks have generated an aphrodisiac scent, a scent that clings to skin and becomes unique depending on the person who wears it. White musk has this other particularity, that of binding a composition, wrapping around it and also fixing volatile fragrances. White musks are therefore very often found as a base note. As with the perfume L by Lolita Lempicka, where white musks indeed sit as a base note, accompanied by precious woods. L is a feminine perfume with a wild and precious sillage. The very fresh top notes are quickly overtaken by vanilla, which offers a creamy, gourmand heart.

White musks and the different olfactory accords in perfumery

Thanks to its range of fragrances, white musk pairs with every olfactory family. It is therefore found in numerous perfumes: oriental, floral, fruity, woody, citrus, fougère… Long incorporated into men's perfumes, white musks now win over women, as with the perfume Nina L'eau by Nina Ricci. Here, white musks sit as a base note and bring their sensual, rounded side. The opening notes of apple, grapefruit, and mandarin give way to a fresh, light heart marked by gardenia and cherry… A carefree, playful and dazzling perfume. Many other compositions attest to the success of white musks.
