Dior signs a new Poison perfume: Pure Poison. The venomous elixir Poison made a lasting impression, modernized Dior's image while bringing the venerable perfumery house back to its finest hours of glory.
Poison managed to defy the laws of classic perfumery to set the 80s ablaze with its burning and thoroughly oriental accords. Fruity, floral, distinguished and animalic, Poison marked its time and lost none of its spectacular aura. Over the course of its relatively late flankers, the Poison spirit remains and, against all appearances, Pure Poison, born in 2004, does not in any way distort the perfumed torments of these tempting bottles… Quite the contrary!

The art of composing a new fragrance from a perfume as legendary as the powerful Poison is a highly complex art. It requires perfumers who love and respect the original bottle enough to know how to preserve its beauty, and perfumers talented enough to be able to modernize it. This may be why the house of Lancôme chose not to offer a flanker for Poison for nine years.
Sometimes, creating a flanker seems easier. You have a starting point and you turn up the freshness, you turn up the warmth, you turn up the jasmine if you want a more floral variation… But in fact, rebalancing things requires a lot of work. Not much creativity but a lot of technique, attributed to Dominique Ropion.
In any case, Poison ended up giving rise to brilliant flankers, each of which in turn managed to highlight different facets of Edouard Fléchier's rich Poison. Among its brilliant bottles, the daring Pure Poison has the effect of a sun-kissed bomb. Far from the beautiful darkness of its companions in the same range, Pure Poison no longer becomes a dark object of desire but rather an extract of burning sunlight, totally opposite to the hypnotic effect of the original Poison.
Yet the three internationally renowned perfumers, Olivier Polge (now Chanel's in-house perfumer), Dominique Ropion (creator of la Vie est Belle, Dune, Alien, Amor Amor and so many other successes) and Carlos Benaim (creator of Armani Code, Flowerbomb, Eternity…), the creators of Pure Poison, never lost sight of the tempting aura of Poison's notes nor of its legendary orange blossom.

As lovers of the orange blossom from the legendary Poison, the three perfumers who created the magnificent and bewitching Pure Poison could not imagine seeing it disappear; better still, they made it the star of this Pure Poison! A powerful and sun-kissed star that draws all the most beautiful warm and sun-kissed notes to its feet!
Moreover, one of the perfumers of this talented trio is a great lover of orange blossom in his fragrances: Carlos Benaim, of course! Indeed, orange blossom is the backbone of the magnificent Armani Code, just as it is for this Pure Poison.
Orange blossom evokes more than anything my childhood in Tangier: the trees in bloom, scenting the entire city; its water, which was sprinkled on guests during celebrations; and the flavor of its candied petals, the letuario de Azahar, as well as the sweet orange jams that were always prepared in spring. Thus, it is the splendor of orange blossom that inspired me to create Armani Code by Giorgio Armani, attributed to Carlos Benaim.
So, with Pure Poison, oriental scents are magnified in their most luminous, purest light thanks to juicy citrus notes, white flowers with absolutely divine scents and deep sensualities that enclose us in a cottony yet still addictive bubble…
