Diorella

Diorella entered the Parfums Christian Dior catalogue in 1972. Edmond Roudnitska composed it six years after Eau Sauvage, whose citrus freshness it takes up and leads towards the floral.

The house describes it as a fruity floral of sharp freshness, eternally modern, and lends it a spirit of freedom and independence.

A chypre the house no longer names

The product page today announces a fruity floral. Francis Kurkdjian, for his part, places the Grasse-period fragrances among the floral chypres that shaped the olfactory identity of an entire era.

The label settles it in its own way: it declares an oakmoss extract, the material without which there is no chypre, and one the three notes put forward by the house do not carry.

The collection of classics

Dior gathered its historic fragrances in 2009 under Les Créations de Monsieur Dior. Stéphan notes that Diorella remains among those the selective retailers still carry, where other titles in the collection have slipped into obscurity.

What changes on 1 October 2026

Diorella is among the thirteen fragrances that Francis Kurkdjian is restoring under the name Dioriginals, after four years spent in archives that span close to eighty years.

He says he wants to treat a fragrance as a fragile work subject to the ravages of time: to give a composition back the lustre and nuance of its materials as colour is given back to a painting, and to see that the texts restricting certain materials do not unbalance its accord.

The Ovale bottle will house them all, clear glass with a half-sphere stopper, carrying a textured label that takes up the original oval design and a finely grooved metal ring engraved with the CD monogram.
