Bright Crystal Absolu

Bright Crystal Absolu, an eau de parfum for women launched by Versace in 2013, extends Bright Crystal in a more concentrated version, signed by Alberto Morillas, the creator of the original. Yuzu, pomegranate and an icy accord open onto a heart of raspberry, lotus, peony and magnolia, set on mahogany, amber and musk. The pink glass bottle wears a wide, faceted fuchsia cap.

Versace and Euroitalia, its fragrance licensee, unveiled Bright Crystal Absolu in the fall of 2013. The eau de parfum arrived first in Italy; Europe and North America received it for Valentine’s Day 2014, and the rest of the world over the course of 2014.

Alberto Morillas, already the author of Bright Crystal, signed the formula. For Giovanni Sgariboldi, who heads Euroitalia, the launch answered customers of the original who wanted a more concentrated version; the house made this stronger concentration the selling point of the announcement.

Versace links the fragrance to its fine jewelry, down to the design of the bottle. Offered at launch in 50 and 90 milliliters, it also comes in 30 milliliters. Candice Swanepoel lends her face to the campaign, shot by photographer Mario Testino.

The advertising

Candice Swanepoel by Mario Testino

The launch campaign, photographed by Mario Testino, features South African model Candice Swanepoel.

For Bright Crystal Absolu, Versace entrusted its image to South African model Candice Swanepoel, then one of the Victoria’s Secret Angels, whom Peruvian photographer Mario Testino staged for the campaign.

The images circulated as soon as the fragrance was announced, from Milan in early November 2013, several months before the bottle reached Europe and North America, planned for Valentine’s Day 2014.
