Where to buy
More than 15 years after its launch, it is still just as adored by women and seems unrivaled. Nevertheless, Dior decided to create a new version, more luminous and radiant than ever. This one is called J'Adore Lumière and is the work of perfumer François Demachy, the house's official nose. He confides that its essence possesses an extraordinary temperament, an attractive and sparkling side. It is an immediate explosion, he says, a straightforward pleasure.
The absolute femininity of J'Adore Lumière
When François Demachy decided to transform the iconic J'Adore, the goal was above all to highlight its luminosity. To do so, he kept its floral character from before but emphasized its contrasts, as if to renew its freshness. Thus, J'Adore Lumière appears more sparkling and joyful than before. It depicts the image of a woman happy to be alive and seizing life to the fullest. It all begins with a blood orange essence that is both invigorating and appetite-whetting. Moreover, it is softened by the presence of an exotic, warm vanilla. For added femininity, magnolia enriches this opening. Being a flower with a slightly lemony facet, it makes the beauty of the Dior woman all the more vibrant. It is at this moment that the queen of flowers makes its appearance. J'Adore Lumière is like a bouquet of Damask roses. However, do not be mistaken, beneath their romantic appearance these flowers also bear thorns. They mirror the Dior woman, both sensual and possessing a certain dose of impertinence. Finally, neroli from Vallauris, obtained through distillation of orange blossom, illuminates the whole. It is the key element of this reinterpretation, displaying a brilliant white of purity paired with a sun-kissed yellow.
The design of the new Dior
If the fragrance of J'Adore Lumière managed to preserve the authentic spirit of its predecessor while bringing a touch of novelty, the same holds true for its bottle. It remains immediately recognizable and only the color of its juice truly changes, shifting from a golden tone to a soft pink. Thus, if J'Adore was a kind of molten gold, J'Adore Lumière now echoes a second skin. This essence is contained in an amphora with the figure-eight shape typical of the New Look style established by Christian Dior. This vessel seems to rise toward the sky, as if drawn by the light. Its generous curve remains very feminine and its long neck is encircled by precious rings. The latter echoes Maasai necklaces, and this is a new way of stating that J'Adore Lumière is a universal fragrance. Finally, the whole is topped with a crystal bubble at its summit, a shape that completes this object with softness and clarity.
