Where to buy

With Opium, the eighties dared to wear a perfume that was opulent, oriental and floral to the fullest. With Black Opium, its scented daughter of the 2010s, women discovered a new addiction, more gourmand yet just as provocative. And what if 2019 offered an even more surprising, even more electric Black Opium Intense?

More magical and contrasted than ever, Black Opium Intense turns into iced velvet through the force of the mesmerizing Zoé Kravitz

Let us be clear, Opium is the scented phenomenon of the eighties. Fiery, opulent, its flowers, as feminine as they are assertive, left no one indifferent — people either love it or hate it, but Opium endures. For Black Opium in 2014, Yves Saint Laurent dressed its Asian flask in modern scented swirls and a gourmand, woody coffee. Yet Opium's descendant lost none of its charm or the provocative sensuality of its roots, even as that charm dressed itself in glitter and absolute modernity.

From Black Opium Eau de Parfum came the pretty and fruity Black Opium Eau de Toilette in 2015, or the sun-kissed Black Opium Floral Shock in 2017. From Black Opium, Black Opium Intense will be born in 2019, promising an even more torrid contrast, an increasingly mesmerizing and surprising mystery.
For Black Opium Intense, the beautiful Zoé Kravitz will once again be rediscovered, carrying us away into a world tinged with urban landscapes and sensual, electric, mesmerizing nocturnal gazes. For Black Opium Intense, the iconic bottle is dressed in bluish colors, as sensual as they are divinely glittery and feminine.

Black Opium Intense, or the marriage of the ecstatic vitality of blue absinthe and a coffee accord

Black Opium Intense was composed, as its predecessors were, by the four renowned perfumers Nathalie Lorson, Olivier Cresp, Marie Salamagne and Honorine Blanc. These four perfumery talents chose, for Black Opium Intense, to work in an extreme way on the contrasts between fresh opening notes and base sensuality, thanks to a standout ingredient: blue absinthe. More than ever, Black Opium Intense plays with light and shadow to become as strong as it is fragile, as luminous as it is divinely nocturnal.

Thus blue absinthe lends the opening notes of Black Opium Intense its sharp, tangy freshness, all the more so as it blends perfectly with the blackberry note, at once prettily fruity and tinged with dark depths. At the heart, light is diffused once again through orange blossom and the sun-kissed sambac jasmine. Then black, velvety coffee carries us into the depths of night, where sandalwood and vanilla combine with a licorice note to reinforce the sensuality of the divine Black Opium Intense.

The advertising

Since 2014, the house of Yves Saint-Laurent has been flooding the world with the scent of its Black Opium perfume. Accompanied by a striking advertisement, this fragrance left no one indifferent. In fact, it was impossible to miss this advertisement, which aired very regularly for four years, whether in its original version or in its “The Night Before” variant. Today, however, Yves Saint-Laurent has decided to release a brand new television spot. Focus on the fiery clip for the house's famous floral coffee.

Yves Saint-Laurent opts for dark music and a capital in full effervescence

While the Yves Saint-Laurent brand has chosen to unveil a brand new advertisement, it must be acknowledged that the atmosphere of this new spot remains very close to that of the previous ones. Black Opium plunges us into the heart of the dark night, lit by the many lights of the city. Yves Saint-Laurent invites us to follow the steps of Zoé Kravitz. The sultry brunette eventually climbs to the top of a building to reach the entrance of a nightclub, accompanied by her clubber friends. The whole scene unfolds to the track “The Hill” by Canadian R&B singer The Weeknd, taken from his second album “Beauty Behind The Madness”, from 2015. The music is far from having been chosen at random. For those who do not speak English, the lyrics simply evoke a story of addiction involving sex, drugs and alcohol, a rather explosive and self-destructive mix… Welcome to the tempting, much-debated world of Yves Saint-Laurent!

Zoé Kravitz, the new face of Black Opium

From now on, it is the seductive Zoé Kravitz who embodies the role of face of the campaign for the Black Opium perfume, thus succeeding Edie Campbell. Her name will inevitably sound familiar, and for good reason… She is the daughter of musician Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet. After trying unsuccessfully to break into music, Zoé Kravitz turned toward the world of film. Her fame literally exploded thanks to her role in X-Men: First Class in 2011, then in the Divergent saga from 2014 to 2016. From then on, Zoé Kravitz became the face of Yves Saint-Laurent for beauty products. Won over by this collaboration, the house decided to make her the new face of the Black Opium perfume. As Yves Saint-Laurent so aptly put it on its Facebook account, Zoé Kravitz is a woman who speaks without filter, endowed with magnetism, mystery and innate charisma. A woman who puts her style and beauty in service of the world of Yves Saint-Laurent. The advertisement for Black Opium thus ends with the sight of her face alongside the slogan “Do you feel the call?”, in reference to the call of temptation. So, will you give in?
