Insolent, provocative, YSL liked to shake up already established codes. He notably imagined the look of the modern woman by reinventing masculine classics. His first perfume, Rive Gauche, is an invitation to freedom. In 2012, he decided to reinterpret his star fragrance, Opium, through Opium, vapeurs de parfum.
Opium Vapeurs de Parfum, the promise of a moment charged with sensuality
It was in 1977 that YSL launched Opium. Its scandalous name, too evocative, made it a legend. On this subject, Yves Saint Laurent explains that if he chose Opium as the name, it is because he intensely hoped that it could, through all its incandescent powers, release divine fluids, magnetic waves, heart-stealing charms and the allure of seduction that give birth to wild love. Unfortunately, some countries saw it as an incitement to consume illicit substances, and Opium was banned in many countries. In fact, Opium was the first perfume to dare speak of drugs, sex and transgression, and for this reason it became a legendary fragrance, whose history resembles no other. It was in 2012 that YSL decided to reinterpret its star fragrance by introducing Opium vapeurs de parfum. The spirit of the legendary perfume can be felt here, but with a velvet step. Opium vapeurs de parfum is an invitation to sensuality, to a precious moment, one that will surely be charged with emotions and feelings. Airy, light and ultra sensual, this revisit of Opium seems much more intimate. Opium vapeurs de parfum is an essence full of softness, velvety and voluptuous, yet ultra fascinating, revealing a facet of the woman previously unknown.
The sensual notes of Opium Vapeurs de Parfum
It is to Dominique Ropion, a highly talented perfumer, that we owe the composition of Opium vapeurs de parfum. It opens on the freshness of mandarin. To this is added a spicy note, that of pink pepper. The heart combines the luminosity of orange blossom with the opulence of sambac jasmine, as well as incense and the spicy character of nutmeg. Finally, the base is illuminated by amber, woody and vanilla accents. The bottle of Opium vapeurs de parfum is ultra feminine. It takes up the codes of the original, and is dressed in a soft pink hue. The cap is made of gilded metal, adding a final touch of elegance to the whole.
Opium vapeurs de parfum, or the reinterpretation of a legend. It was in 1977 that Yves Saint Laurent imagined the sulphurous and no less legendary fragrance Opium. With its very particular biography, Opium is indelibly rooted in history. While Opium vapeurs de parfum took nothing away from the legend, it nevertheless added a more sensual side to it. The new essence reveals the hidden facets of a woman full of charm, soft, voluptuous and ultra sensual.
