Where to buy
Yves Saint Laurent knew how to invent the modern woman, by reinterpreting classic menswear. His first perfume, Rive Gauche, released in 1971, is a genuine invitation to feminine freedom. Yves Saint Laurent was a provocateur and caused scandal on several occasions, notably with his perfume Collection 40, but also when he posed nude for its advertising campaign… In 2015, YSL presented Black Opium, the Eau de Toilette, an installment stemming from the Black Opium saga.
Black Opium, or the revisiting of a legend
It was in 2014 that Yves Saint Laurent conceived Black Opium. Barely 6 months after its release, Black Opium had already climbed into the Top 10 best-selling perfumes in the world… In reality, Black Opium is the fragrance of a revisited legend. In 1977, when YSL unveiled Opium, the fragrance was as adored as it was criticized. Black Opium aims to be more rock and, above all, more sensual than its predecessor. Vibrant with sensuality, Black Opium blows like a wind of modernity and charisma over the women of the 2000s. Buoyed by this success, the house offered, a year later, Black Opium, the Eau de Toilette. While it still flirts with the forbidden, the Eau de Toilette is nonetheless meant to be lighter, airier. As addictive as a sip of caffeine and as luminous as a beautiful bouquet of white flowers, Black Opium, the Eau de Toilette upends the codes of seduction… To our great delight!
The sparkling coffee-floral notes of Black Opium
No fewer than 4 talented perfumers were needed to create this unprecedented fragrance, namely Olivier Cresp, Nathalie Lorson, Marie Salamagne and Honorine Blanc. They decided to imagine a fragrance that plays between an extreme intensity born from the meeting of darkness and soft luminescence. Black Opium, the Eau de Toilette defines itself as a gourmand oriental of a new generation, thus marking a break with traditional perfumery. Black Opium opens on ultra fruity notes with pear, green mandarin and blackcurrant buds. The heart evolves toward the key ingredient, coffee, paired with floral notes, orange blossom, and also an infusion of jasmine tea. The base is very sensual. Still steeped in coffee, it is also composed of white musks and white wood. As for the bottle, it remains very feminine since it takes up the codes of its predecessor. Deeply sensual, the bottle is dressed in lacquered black, and electrified with sparkling glitter. The center of the bottle is tinted, for the occasion, in soft pink. It is once again the London model, no less iconic to rock fashion, Edie Campbell, who represents the revolutionary character of Black Opium.
Black Opium, the Eau de Toilette follows the immense success of the Eau de Parfum. The latter marked a genuine upheaval in the world of traditional perfumery. Powerful, sensual and utterly addictive, Black Opium, the Eau de Toilette will intoxicate with a magic all its own.
