Dior Homme Original

Dior launches Dior Homme in 2005, under the artistic direction of Hedi Slimane, then head of the house’s men’s collections. Dior does not yet have an in-house perfumer and entrusts the formula to Olivier Polge, then at IFF, who makes it a powdery iris, rare in a widely distributed masculine.

From Dior Homme to Dior Homme Original

François Demachy becomes Dior’s appointed perfumer in 2006 and extends the line with Cologne, Sport, Intense and Parfum. In 2014 the critic Persolaise notes that the eau de toilette has been reworked by him, and the house credits him today for the eau de toilette.

In January 2020, Dior launches a new Dior Homme. The original eau de toilette does not disappear: renamed Dior Homme Original, it remains on sale in the house’s boutiques as well as on its website.

What the house says

Dior presents Dior Homme Original as the eau de toilette at the origin of the line and as its first masculine iris, a sexy signature heightened by virile woody notes. The house invites men to wear it the way one wears a contemporary suit, with a sharp elegance.

It quotes François Demachy with the sentence that serves as a program for the whole line: in his words, the fragrance explores “a new virility, immediate and yet complex.”
