Dior Homme by Dior: the whole line, from 2005 to 2025

An iris for men

Dior launched Dior Homme in 2005, under the artistic direction of Hedi Slimane, then head of the house’s menswear collections. Olivier Polge, then at IFF, composed the formula around a powdery iris, rare in a mass-market men’s fragrance.

Twenty years later, the line counts seven fragrances. François Demachy, Dior’s perfumer from 2006, extended it into Intense, Cologne, Sport and Parfum; Francis Kurkdjian reinterpreted the Parfum in 2025. In 2020, a new Dior Homme took over the name of the original.

The 2005 original

The 2005 eau de toilette is still sold. François Demachy retouched it, and since 2020 it has carried the name Dior Homme Original, which Dior presents as the house’s first masculine iris.

2005 · Eau de toilette · Cardamom, iris, vetiver

Dior Homme Original

Christian Dior

The house declares three materials: Guatemalan cardamom, Tuscan iris, Haitian vetiver. Robert Pattinson became its face in 2013, in a black-and-white film by Romain Gavras. Robin, of Now Smell This, ranked it among masculine gourmands at launch; Persolaise sees it as a modern classic.

Concentrated iris

Two more concentrated versions extend the iris of the original. Dior Homme Intense took it to eau de parfum as early as 2007; Dior Homme Parfum, born in 2014, changed face in 2025 at the hands of Francis Kurkdjian, perfume creative director at Dior.

2007 · Intense eau de parfum · Iris, ambrette, cedar

Dior Homme Intense

Christian Dior

François Demachy signed the formula in 2007 and recomposed it in 2011. The house names only three materials, Tuscan iris, Ecuadorian ambrette and Virginia cedar, in a glass block covered with a translucent lacquer. Dior suggests wearing it like a suit.

2025 · Parfum · Iris, amber accord

Dior Homme Parfum

Christian Dior

The 2014 version, signed by Demachy, rested on a leather accord. Kurkdjian turns it into an overdosed iris, from root to flower, over an amber accord of patchouli, vetiver and coumarin, in a monolithic bottle inspired by skyscrapers. Varanis Ridari, of The Scented Devil, finds it softer and more romantic than the earlier versions.

The fresh versions

The line also includes lighter versions, without the iris of the original. Dior Homme Sport was born in 2008 and Dior Homme Cologne as early as 2007; the house has recomposed them several times, and Jude Law fronted their 2008 and 2013 campaigns.

2008 · Eau de toilette · Bergamot, elemi, incense

Dior Homme Sport

Christian Dior

The first version, of citrus and ginger, came out in 2008 with a film by Daniel Askill shot in the Bahamas, starring Jude Law. The current version, which Dior compares to a boxer’s uppercut, combines bergamot, lemon, elemi, pink peppercorns and incense. Persolaise considered the original a triumph and finds the 2022 version predictable.

2018 · Eau de toilette · Blood orange, pink peppercorns, vetiver

Dior Homme Sport Very Cool

Christian Dior

Dior Homme Sport in an unbreakable continuous-spray bottle that releases the fragrance as micro-droplets. François Demachy retouched the formula for this way of spraying, replacing the top-note citron, judged too bitter, with a rounder blood orange.

2013 · Eau de cologne · Bergamot, grapefruit blossom, white musk

Dior Homme Cologne

Christian Dior

Dior released a new version in 2013, which François Demachy keeps to three materials: Calabrian bergamot, grapefruit blossom and white musk. Peter Lindbergh photographed Jude Law at the wheel of a vintage convertible on the French Riviera. The white bottle carries a touch of blue.

2020, a new Dior Homme

In January 2020, Dior launched a new Dior Homme, signed by François Demachy. The 2005 eau de toilette did not disappear: it took the name Dior Homme Original and remains on sale alongside its successor.

2020 · Eau de toilette · Cedar, patchouli, vetiver

Dior Homme

Christian Dior

Woody where the original was powdery, it has Atlas cedar embrace a spicy Haitian vetiver, around a heart of patchouli. The duo The Blaze filmed Robert Pattinson in New York to Leonard Cohen’s I’m Your Man. Persolaise finds it well made, but regrets that it erases the ambiguities of the original.

What ties the Dior Homme fragrances together

Iris holds the line: it defines the original and is concentrated in the Intense and the Parfum, while Sport and Cologne do without it to play on freshness. The 2020 Dior Homme chooses woods, without disowning the name.

The bottles keep a common principle, the thick glass block of the line, lacquered for the Intense, cut as a monolith for the Sport and the 2025 Parfum. Robert Pattinson succeeded Jude Law as the face of Dior Homme in 2013.
