Dior Homme

A new Dior Homme, even more virile and sensual Christian Dior always had a very free vision of fashion: having founded his house just after the war, in 1947, he brought a wind of change into the daily lives of women and men. This is how he became the undisputed giant of luxury and French elegance.

Where to buy

His first masculine fragrance, for its part, was launched a little later, in 1966. Since then, Christian Dior has collected one success after another and never ceases to win over men's hearts. In 2005, he thus envisioned the Dior Homme fragrance, a virile and elegant juice, conceived as an olfactory interpretation of his menswear collection. Today, after numerous reinterpretations of its scent, it transforms once again, to our great delight, and becomes Dior Homme Eau de Toilette.

The return of Dior's elegant bottle

Let us begin with this fragrance's bottle, which on its own conveys all the elegance of the house it belongs to. Dior Homme Eau de Toilette comes in a glass bottle, whose appearance closely resembles that of its predecessors. This transparent block is both minimalist and refined in design, giving it a very modern style. Yet this bottle also plays on paradoxes. On one side, it relies on absolute transparency. On the other, it slips a black steel tube into its amber juice. Likewise, an opaque black block is set into the center of its translucent bottle. It is on this block, moreover, that the fragrance's name is inscribed. In fact, every element of this bottle echoes a facet of its scent. The transparency of its glass recalls its freshness. The amber color of its juice underscores that this is a warm fragrance. The black color, for its part, projects an exceptional masculinity.

Dior Homme Eau de Toilette, the contrasted fragrance of a tender and virile man

Dior Homme Eau de Toilette is a rich and subtle fragrance, which dares to combine several contrary ingredients. First, it opens with a very fresh and spicy scent of cardamom. Its lively burst gives the wearer tremendous energy! Then, iris unfurls its powdery breath at the heart. This is the central element of the Dior collection, a noble flower present in every fragrance of the Dior Homme range. Finally, warm woods take over. Dior Homme Eau de Toilette blends the warmth of Atlas cedar with the natural charisma of patchouli and the earthier facet of Haitian vetiver.
Through all these contrasts, François Demachy, Dior's exclusive perfumer, believes that this new Dior Homme has an obvious virile signature. That does not prevent it from developing tender, sensual accents. In the end, this amounts to portraying a modern man. For him, if it had to symbolize a men's garment, it would undeniably be a suit with a sharp, contemporary chic.

Olfastory’s review

Dior Homme was born in 2005 and is one of the most famous fragrances on the planet. A symbol of elegant masculinity according to Dior, it is a juice built around iris, one of the noblest plants in the perfumer's entire palette. Buoyed by its success, the Dior Homme fragrance reinvents itself year after year. Once again, it immerses us in its infinitely refined universe. A new Dior Homme Eau de Toilette edition was unveiled in 2020. It should be noted, however, that a previous Eau de Toilette had already been created a few years earlier. So why did Dior choose to readapt it? What are the novelties of this fragrance? Here is our review.

The advertising

Since 1947, Christian Dior has dressed men and women in undeniable elegance. At the same time, he has also offered them sumptuous fragrances, ideally designed to reveal his unmatched sense of chic. It was precisely to complete his menswear wardrobe that the house of Dior envisioned the Dior Homme fragrance in 2005, a juice with an instantly classic yet contemporary character, as though emanating from a luxurious, precise and refined universe. Today, this essence reinvents itself and becomes a new, woodier Eau de Toilette. The new Dior Homme of 2020 portrays a highly virile man, magnificently embodied on screen by actor Robert Pattinson.

The new woody signature of Dior Homme 2020

Dior Homme is a very warm fragrance, which heightens the seductive power of the man who wears it. First, it sparks curiosity by relying on highly contrasted ingredients. Elemi and bergamot cast a very fresh air over it, quickly warmed by the spicy presence of pink pepper. Then, its heart grows darker and more mysterious, marrying patchouli, Atlas cedar and cashmere wood. This woody thread continues further into its base with the addition of Haitian vetiver. Finally, white musk further enhances the refinement of this essence.
Like its predecessors, the Dior Homme Eau de Toilette comes in a rectangular glass bottle, like a massive block with clean lines. Into its amber juice, Dior chose to plunge a black steel tube, directly connected to its spray nozzle. This is covered with a small opaque cube bearing the Dior name, while an imposing transparent cap still covers the whole.

Robert Pattinson directed by the duo The Blaze, in the Dior Homme campaign “I'm Your Man”

On screen, it is the full complexity of this new fragrance that is staged. Once again, to embody the image of its fragrance, the house of Dior called on actor Robert Pattinson, the brand's face since 2013. Here, the actor displays before our eyes the full breadth of his talent, appearing by turns virile and rebellious, then more intimate and sensual with his partner. The young woman, for her part, seems utterly unable to resist his charm. The scene unfolds in the streets of New York, in one of the city's restaurants, and in a building's penthouse suite as night falls. Here, Robert Pattinson seems to resurrect all the mythical heroes of New York cinema. The whole is directed by the French director duo The Blaze, formed by cousins Alric. Highly talented, this pair consists of a multi-instrumentalist and a director. Both have already been directing their music through meticulously polished videos for several years, and are considered rising stars in the world of short film. Here, the film is set to the track “I'm Your Man” by Leonard Cohen, a genuine anthem to love with mesmerizing lyrics.
