An oriental leather for men of character: Leather Oud

La Collection Privée was born in 2009 to showcase the beautiful compositions created under the guidance of Heidi Slimane and the magnificent original and inventive creations of the house's perfumer, François Demachy. While Ambre Nuit opened the ball of the perfumer's rare fragrances, the numerous opuses that followed in 2010 were mainly intended to pay tribute to Christian Dior's couture.

However, François Demachy was not going to stop at flowers, far from it! He took advantage of the very great freedom he was given for this Collection Privée to work with his favorite raw materials, including spices and oriental woods.

For certain lines such as Christian Dior's Collection Privée, he works without a brief, without a deadline or a budget limit, and draws inspiration from the heritage of Monsieur Christian Dior. Thus Christian Dior's love for the Middle East and its shimmering colors meets François Demachy's passion for the scents typical of these countries of light. It was therefore quite logical that François Demachy would create Leather Oud in 2010 to celebrate this shared passion.

When oud wood becomes the star of a Dior fragrance, Leather Oud is born…

Oud wood is a raw material widely used in modern perfumery. However, François Demachy personally selected the best of these wood essences to compose, around this warm and mysterious note, a distinguished leather fragrance that is above all highly representative of the scents of the Orient, adding in the spices the perfumer is so fond of.

Thus Leather Oud opens on an essence of cardamom paired with a bright, fresh bergamot. In the heart, we plunge into a bath of searing spices thanks to clove essence and the nervous power of geranium. A touch of jasmine lends its delicate, floral brightness to the whole. Finally, the essence of Indonesian oud wood, powerful, vibrant, almost alive, becomes leather notes magnified by birch to better carry us into the intense, woody depths of patchouli, sandalwood, and amber woods. Cistus and labdanum reinforce this cocktail of oriental masculinity for a fiery wind of sensuality.
