Invictus

Invictus: A fragrance for a conquering, invincible man The house of Paco Rabanne has mastered the art of storytelling, of translating masculine fantasies into image and into bottle. With Black XS, rockstar dreams were within reach; with One Million, dreams of fortune and gold; with Invictus, men are invited to dream of sporting glory, of being an all-round champion, adored by the gods and by women.

Nothing less! Paco Rabanne sets the bar high and overplays its hand, but it offers original masculine fragrances that can afford such boldness. Invictus is beautiful, grand and structured; it fears nothing, least of all playing with contrasts of scent...

Invictus and the powerful scent of Victory

This sweet scent of victory, of challenge, whether sporting, professional or private, lies at the heart of the lives of today's men. Invictus was born of this fantasy of conquest. Who has never dreamed, one day, of entering an arena or a stadium, of hearing their name chanted by the crowd, and of becoming an object of desire? add the creators at Paco Rabanne.

Thus the fragrance tells the story of a god of the stadium, an Apollo whom nothing resists, neither a ball, nor a team, nor a woman... From the visual to the bottle, from the advertising to its name, all the communication around Invictus is governed by victory, all the more so as the worship of the ancient solar deity Sol Invictus knew no bounds. Indeed, the advertisement does not shy away from referencing antiquity and the gods of the stadium, nymphs (far less clothed than in reality), and a handsome, muscular, bare-chested athlete in the arena.

The face of the campaign, Nick Youngquest, is not a model for once but a great athlete, a celebrated rugby player from the Australian team. This does not stop him being handsome, but that is not the point... His athletic body sends a strong message, whether to men or to women, though a different one to each... at first glance!

A fragrance of contrasts, as fresh as it is strong: Invictus by Paco Rabanne

To present the beautiful Invictus fragrance, a bottle equal to the feat was needed. In a clearly outsized gesture, it was chosen to present it as a trophy. A design signed by Cédric Ragot allows the cup to display the power of Victory while showcasing the light, fresh blue of the fragrance.
These same contrasts are also used in the scented notes of Invictus. The creator Véronique Nyberg offers with Invictus a composition of fragrances clashing in a duel between woods and intense marine-aromatic freshness.

From the top notes, Invictus opens onto juicy, sweet citrus of mandarin, powerful citrus notes of grapefruit, and accords of fresh mint carrying the senses toward an intense freshness. This freshness is propelled by green, marine heart notes paired with sweet, watery, and slightly gourmand notes of melon. Finally, the sillage traces itself in deeply woody scents of guaiac wood, amber woods, and the elegant, exotic cashmeran. Of course, a sporting hero could not wear a virile fragrance without an animalic note of labdanum!

Although the thoroughly outsized, and thoroughly embraced, myth of the athlete is the message carried by the Invictus fragrance, the perfume presents a certain break from the codes of masculine virility. Indeed, Paco Rabanne delights in creating strong, almost caricatural images of Man, yet the Invictus perfume (like 1 Million) offers sweet or gourmand fragrances in complete break from the great classics. Certain fruity notes, for instance, are never used in masculine perfumery, and yet behind every champion lies a tender heart!

The advertising

Invictus, released in 2013, is one of Paco Rabanne's great successes. It represents the Greek hero par excellence, with all the power that entails. Handsome, strong and powerful, the Invictus man is framed by Greek mythology. Half-god, half-man, Invictus is like an unattainable fantasy. So that the advertisement would convey the same fantasies, Paco Rabanne decided to build its clip around sport and mythology. On the program: virility, strength and beauty... Enough to dazzle every woman who watches it...

Antiquity, as the backdrop of the Invictus advertisement

To honor its very masculine fragrance, the house of Paco Rabanne decided to play on a highly prized theme, antiquity. This period is at once charged with emotion, mystery and history, and it fascinates everyone. Paco Rabanne also chose to celebrate athletes. Here, Paco Rabanne rides the wave of combativeness and sportsmanship, in order to present a man in perfect physical condition, sporting a dream physique, as muscular as could be wished. Revealing an Apollo's body in a stadium, the Invictus man strolls through it as the great victor. Athletic, but above all sexy, the Invictus man is awaited and adored by countless women!

An Australian rugby player as the face of the Invictus campaign

It is the Australian rugby player Nick Youngquest who was chosen to represent the Greek God. He indeed found his place at the Musée Grévin in November 2016. Of Australian origin, Nick Youngquest lives in New York with his wife, Mira, whose name is tattooed on his chest. Nick Youngquest is a former rugby player with the club XIII. In the clip signed Alexandre Courtès, the handsome rugby player appears as an athlete, but above all as the winner of the prestigious cup... Set to the song Power by Kanye West, the Invictus man deploys his charm and his strength like an invincible hero.

Invictus is a fragrance in which man is half-God, half-man. To represent this man, the brand Paco Rabanne chose the rugby player Nick Youngquest. He displays a dream silhouette, muscular and strong. He advances as victor, brandishing his cup. Against a backdrop of antiquity, the advertisement clip conveys the image of a man who is not only athletic, but also ultra sensual...
