Jean Paul Gaultier describes So Scandal! as the very essence of scandal: a trio of white flowers that one would swear promises an angelic sweetness, before raspberry and a gourmand milkiness blow everything up.

The house opens on orange blossom, which it wants so bright, and on a juicy raspberry. Sandra Raičević Petrović perceives a rich raspberry liqueur, ripe red fruits and blood orange juice, brightened by sunny shades that keep the fruits vivid.

Heart

Tuberose so powdery and jasmine sambac so opulent make up the floral tier, writes the house. For Sandra Raičević Petrović, the tuberose is rich and creamy, slightly balsamic, and the jasmine carnal, in a milky bouquet with bubble-gum and sparkling champagne effects.

Base

The milky notes, addictive according to the house, wrap around the whole. Sandra Raičević Petrović notes a honey nuance lighter and greener than that of Scandal à Paris, close to linden honey, and a silky candy base, sensual and feminine.

What stays out

The house speaks only of milky notes, without naming a specific material, and milk itself appears nowhere in its descriptions. Honey, tonka bean and cashmeran, which Sandra Raičević Petrović perceives, do not appear there either.

What the label declares

The published list counts twenty-one ingredients. Behind alcohol, fragrance and water come linalool, hydroxycitronellal, with its lily-of-the-valley scent, and benzyl salicylate, along with geraniol, citronellol, eugenol and citral; it declares no essential oil.

It carries two UV filters, ethylhexyl salicylate and butyl methoxydibenzoylmethane, tris(tetramethylhydroxypiperidinol) citrate, which stabilizes the formula, and five colorants, red 4, red 33, blue 1, violet 2 and yellow 5.
