Fabrice Pellegrin
The profession of perfumer represents a strong symbol of French savoir-faire. But how is this unusual craft learned, and is one born a nose or does one become one? In reality, it is very often an art form passed down from generation to generation. In this respect, the talented Fabrice Pellegrin is an excellent example. The son of a perfumer from Grasse, he is today considered one of the greatest talents in world perfumery.
The birth of an olfactory genius
Fabrice Pellegrin is a French perfumer, the son of a perfumer, who readily admits to having always been passionate about scents. He thus took his first steps in olfactory composition even before joining a fragrance house. His career has been marked by numerous collaborations with niche brands such as Diptyque. In fact, one of his greatest fragrances was born under that house: L’Eau Duelle, a fragrance known for its oriental tones and appreciated for its sensuality. Indeed, Fabrice Pellegrin is not someone who is passionate about major commercial brands. He far prefers niche perfumery, in which he envisions great growth in the years to come. In reality, he advocates a return to a more refined perfumery and is convinced that this requires the multiplication of so-called quiet perfumers. He began proving himself within the house of Mane, starting in 1999. Today, he works for Firmenich, a Swiss company specializing in the creation of aromas, founded in 1895 and now considered a giant of perfumery.
Fabrice Pellegrin's signature
Fabrice Pellegrin is among those perfumers who value natural raw materials above all else. He draws his creativity from the heart of nature and avoids the use of synthetic molecules as much as possible. In doing so, he creates woody, spicy or amber fragrances by traveling to the four corners of the globe in order to convey to us the best that nature can produce. Each of his fragrances aims to take the consumer on a journey while conveying an emotion. Fabrice Pellegrin likes to create fragrances with a strong personality, and his signature is unmistakably recognizable. He has collaborated several times with the house of Réminiscence, creating for them the fragrances Tonka and, most recently, White Tubéreuse. More recently, in 2016, he composed the fragrance Aédes de Venustas de Cierge de Lune.
Fabrice Pellegrin is a creator who puts a piece of his soul into each of his creations. In this respect, he very often incorporates tuberose into his fragrances. This is because Fabrice Pellegrin told Vogue Italia that it was one of his favorite scents. He also admitted at the same time to being particularly fond of the captivating fragrance of Féminité du Bois by Shiseido.
