The initial spray releases a frosted violet leaf accord, softened by a twist of lime. A touch of pink pepper adds a spicy crackle that evokes the crisp air of a snow-capped summit at dawn.

At the heart, clary sage from Auvergne delivers a herbaceous, almost metallic facet, nuanced by a menthol-accented bourbon geranium. This aromatic tandem creates an “oxygen” effect that extends the sensation of open air.
Base: Alaska cedar, ambrox & oakmoss
The base reveals a resinous yet clear Alaska cedar, sculpted by an amber-mineral ambrox. A filtered oakmoss brings the fougère touch, cementing a dry and elegant sillage that persists more than nine hours on skin and until the next day on fabric.

Taking up the totem silhouette of the Explorer line, the bottle rises toward glacial altitudes: a hammered platinum sleeve conjures shimmering rock and ice, while the Montblanc star logo sits atop a chrome cap. As a nod to sustainability, the glassware is made from 18% recycled glass and the pump unscrews to accommodate the 150 ml refill.
Advertising campaign
Filmed by Fabien Montique in the mountains of the Bernese Oberland, the campaign follows mountaineer and photographer Esteban Suh. Step by step, he climbs a crystal ridge, the bottle attached to his harness. The electro soundtrack “Higher Ground” resonates between the peaks, while a voiceover murmurs: “Go beyond the summit.” The press poster frames his gaze against a steel sky, bottle in hand, with the handwritten slogan: “Explore Further.”
Review & verdict
Explorer Platinum combines the icy green freshness of a modern fougère with an almost graphite mineral woody base. On warm skin, the violet reveals a suede leather side; in cool climates, the sage and cedar take on clean, sleek accents.
