Dior launched Sauvage Eau Forte in 2024, its first alcohol-free, water-based men’s fragrance. Francis Kurkdjian, the house’s perfume creative director since October 2021, composed it for the line François Demachy had opened in 2015.
The house draws inspiration from the power of water. It wants a composition as fresh as an eau de toilette and as intense as a parfum, made possible by an alcohol-free formula it calls exclusive, and describes a milky white eau.
A deconstructed fougère
Kurkdjian explains that the absence of alcohol allowed him to stretch freshness to the extreme, and says he deconstructs the classic model of the men’s fougère through a new spicy freshness. He also acknowledges that working without alcohol imposes technical limits.
Johnny Depp remains the face of the line: this time the house places him before a waterfall, in a new universe that echoes the force of water.

For Sauvage Eau Forte, Dior places Johnny Depp in a new universe: serene, before a waterfall whose force echoes the freshness of the fragrance. The images are signed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino, who has directed the Sauvage campaigns since 2015.
Asked about the fragrance, Depp says he found in it a slice of Sauvage hitting other notes, and associates it with early morning, just before sunrise, near a forest. He speaks of a freshness that evokes the mist of a waterfall.
