Eau Noire, a perfume from the Collection Privée Dior. While the Collection Privée mostly presents magnificent bottles created by François Demachy, some predate his arrival at Dior, such as the Colognes collection launched under the Hedi Slimane era in 2004.

Among these three Colognes (which are not really colognes, for that matter) we will have the pleasure of discovering or rediscovering Eau Noire, a powerful aromatic cologne, but also and above all a scorching one! Eau Noire, now reissued in the Collection Privée by Dior, once again offers us its wonders…

When the Cologne dons an oriental scented tuxedo, it is called Eau Noire by Dior

Indeed, the Collection Privée by Dior was not composed solely of the magnificent creative fantasies of François Demachy, the house's official perfumer since 2006. The Colognes collection, created at the request of the great Hedi Slimane, joined the master perfumer's beautiful bottles in order to be reborn once again. Bois d'Argent, Cologne Blanche and Eau Noire are once again available to the general public, and here our noses are once again won over!

It must be said that Hedi Slimane, Dior's creative director in the 2000s, not only extensively modernized the haute couture lines but also brought Dior perfumes a touch of absolute modernity and sophistication, particularly the men's fragrances. We therefore owe him the magnificent Dior Homme, but also Eau Noire, a project in which he personally invested himself to the point of wearing it himself!

Slimane appears to have been closely involved in the design, which took no less than three years. Among the three creations, it is Eau Noire that is the most personal: it was composed practically tailor-made for him, according to his tastes, to replace the fragrance he had worn since he was eleven. Attributed to Ambre Gris, regarding Eau Noire, Dior.

Eau Noire plays with retro cologne by displaying aromatic accords so powerful that they are reassuring, but the certainty of this classicism will stop at this opening. For the man behind this Eau Noire will quickly be carried toward floral and then oriental territories, far more distant than traditional men's fragrances.

Eau Noire, or the delightful encounter between aromatic accords and oriental accords

Eau Noire was created by the great perfumer Francis Kurkdjian to surprise us as much with almost classic accords as with completely innovative ones. The classicism of Eau Noire is notably linked to the presence of an aromatic bouquet very representative of the Cologne style. On the other hand, immortelle flower, very rare in perfumery, as well as saffron, bring an original twist to this cologne unlike any other.

Thus Eau Noire opens on aromatic notes composed of white Spanish thyme leaf absolute and clary sage absolute. Then lavender from the Luberon blends with the sharpness of cedarwood to melt into the honeyed and floral scents of immortelle. A few violets come to powder this marriage of hot and cold. Finally, a spicy and gourmand licorice accord blends with a vanilla infusion to create, for the man (or woman) of Eau Noire, an addictive and powerful sillage. Unforgettable!
