Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune, a fragrance presented in a prestigious bottle
Let us begin by discussing this fragrance's bottle. Like all the Aqua Allegoria fragrances, Pamplelune comes in a modern reinterpretation of Guerlain's iconic Bee Bottle. As a reminder, this bottle was originally designed in 1853 to hold the Eau de Cologne Impériale, intended for Empress Eugénie. It was then crafted by the Pochet du Courval glassworks and covered in a finely engraved fine gold lacquer. Today, Guerlain has chosen to bring this container up to date, while still echoing its history. Its cylindrical shape and its dome inspired by Place Vendôme have been preserved. Its sculpted bees have disappeared. However, its dome is sculpted in a honeycomb pattern (quite symbolic!), while a bee appears on its small golden ball. Its solar warmth, meanwhile, shows through in a honey-colored juice, lit up by the rays of light running through this transparent glass bottle. Truly beautiful, Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune reinvents Guerlain's history and nods to one of the brand's finest bottle-making achievements, which at the time earned it the title of official perfumer to Her Majesty.
Pamplelune, a fresh grapefruit scent evoking Spain
Guerlain's Pamplelune owes its existence to perfumer Mathilde Laurent. Here, all the energy of summer seems to emerge from this bottle. Guerlain also takes the opportunity to evoke a colorful city in northern Spain: Pamplona. Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune is a playful, generous fragrance, like a veritable garden suspended between the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. With it, the sun is at its peak and seems to have been captured on the highest peaks of the Pyrenees. At first, the tangy taste of California grapefruit takes hold. For added freshness, it is paired with Italian bergamot. Then its heart becomes just as energetic but more luminous. Here, neroli and petitgrain are stirred up by the green presence of blackcurrant buds. Little by little, Pamplelune grows bolder. Vanilla from Réunion gives it a more exotic, sweet facet, while patchouli from Indonesia lends structure to the whole, contrasting with its sharp initial freshness. As always, the magic works and the journey of the senses is instant.
