This time, Guerlain did not have to look far to find its source of inspiration. Its new perfume showcases bergamot from Calabria. It is thus named Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria.

When Guerlain decided to create the Aqua Allegoria collection, its ambition was above all to take us on a journey. Indeed, each of its juices is a kind of luminous and sparkling interpretation of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Thus, each of its perfumes highlights a particular ingredient so as to transport us to a distant place with a single breath. Guerlain's perfumers traveled the world to bring back the finest raw materials. From India to Italy, California, or Réunion, they scoured the entire planet in search of new scents. Each Aqua Allegoria thus becomes the reflection of a country. Moreover, the other element that defines them is their now-iconic bottle. This is common to all the Aqua Allegoria. In fact, it is a modern take on the iconic Flacon aux Abeilles by Guerlain, designed in 1853 for the Eau de Cologne Impériale. We find here the bee resting on the cap and finely engraved in the rounded gold. The light, meanwhile, is reflected through a honeycomb-carved dome. This time it crowns an amber-colored juice evocative of sunbeams. This is precisely the luminosity found in the character of Bergamote Calabria.

The invigorating freshness of Bergamote Calabria

As always, Bergamote Calabria is a perfume created by Thierry Wasser, official nose of the house Guerlain since 2008. Here he chose to pay tribute to one of the most emblematic ingredients of fresh perfumes: bergamot. However, while this fruit is usually placed in the top notes of perfumes, here it is clearly showcased and serves as the guiding thread of this entire composition. Bergamote Calabria is a juice that smells of sunshine. With a little imagination, and with eyes closed, one could almost feel as though strolling through a bergamot orchard in Calabria! Bergamote Calabria pairs this sun-drenched fruit with other citrus notes. Furthermore, its opening is illuminated by petitgrain, an absolute obtained by distilling the branches and leaves of the bitter orange tree. The whole is at once sparkling, aromatic, green, and floral. This is precisely the sensation also found in its heart. Aqua Allegoria Bergamote Calabria develops into a spicier, anise-like scent, yet just as fresh, with cardamom. This is heightened with ginger, as if to make the whole more addictive. Finally, the airy freshness of white musks takes over, closing this perfume with softness.
