Eau de Guerlain, a heritage, but so much more!

The Guerlain house is of course the height of French luxury and elegance, but above all a family saga begun in the 19th century by Pierre-François-Pascal Guerlain. Since the forefather and his famous Eau de Cologne Impériale, generations of perfumers have succeeded one another at the “throne” of the venerable house. Although times have changed and Aimé, then Jacques and now Jean-Paul Guerlain have each created fragrances more extraordinary than the last, one tradition remains: the Eau de Cologne offered by every Guerlain perfumer.

Thus Jean-Paul Guerlain follows this lovely tradition by giving us, in 1974, the beautiful citrus Eau de Guerlain. Eau de Guerlain is indeed a Cologne, certainly, but not entirely, as it offers rather surprising chypre facets for the genre! It should not be forgotten that Jean-Paul Guerlain's fragrant creations remain faithful to the tradition of the Guerlinade while also being faithful to their own modern and original reinterpretations.

Eau de Guerlain celebrates the rite of spring!

As tradition dictates, Eau de Guerlain, like the Eau de fleurs de cédrat or the Eau de Cologne du Coq, comes in the emblematic bottle adorned with “bees” that served as the precious case for the Eau de Cologne Impériale intended for the Empress Eugénie. Yet despite the fresh, citrus charm typical of Guerlain's Eaux de Cologne, the lovely Eau de Guerlain conceals sensual mysteries.

Clear and luminous, it [Eau de Guerlain] evokes sun-drenched Provence and the freshness of summer fountains, according to the house. And from the top notes onward, one can only agree, as the zesty, tangy lemon blended with the scents of mint and thyme immediately transports one to the scrublands of Provence. Then the floral heart, punctuated by jasmine, carnation and neroli, envelops one in their pastoral power. Finally, the genius of master Jean-Paul Guerlain expresses itself through a base note touch of patchouli blended with vetiver, the favorite raw material of the creator of Vétiver.

While the Eaux de Cologne traditionally offered by Guerlain could be layered over one's usual fragrance, this is not the case with Eau de Guerlain, as it is entirely self-sufficient.
