Sauvage Parfum

Dior now describes Sauvage Parfum through three accords: mandarin and bergamot at the top, Sri Lankan sandalwood and cedar at the heart, vanilla and tonka bean at the base. The house mainly highlights a spicy mandarin and a creamy sandalwood.

The sandalwood comes from a Sri Lankan plantation that has partnered with Dior for more than ten years. The house credits it with milky, smooth accords that envelop the whole composition, and pairs the cedar with an unexpected facet of jammy raspberry.

At the base, the line’s own vanilla absolute is draped in a tonka bean that Dior calls slightly bitter and gourmand. The whole keeps the Calabrian bergamot that links Sauvage Parfum to the 2015 eau de toilette.

The launch notes

The notes announced in 2019 placed bergamot, mandarin and elemi at the top, sandalwood at the heart, tonka bean, olibanum and vanilla at the base. Elemi and olibanum no longer appear in the house’s current description.

The ingredient list declares the essential oils of bergamot, lemon, patchouli, lavender, Virginia cedar, geranium, sandalwood and rose, and names vanillin and coumarin among its fragrant components.
