With Dune pour Homme in 1997, men could finally also travel through the wide open spaces envisioned by Dior and Olivier Cresp. Nature, warm colors and forest elements make this lovely woody-citrus fragrance both innovative and refined.
Dune pour Homme, or travel within reach of a fragrance
By launching Dune in 1991, Dior wanted to stand apart from the strong, “venomous” sillage fragrances of the 1980s, offering instead splendors that were both very simple and very sophisticated in the search for raw materials as well as in the fragrant composition.
Given the success of Dune pour femme, how could one imagine that the world of men's fragrance would not also have its own breeze of marine freshness to offer? Dune pour Homme was launched in 1997 with the same olfactory story as its feminine alter ego: Guided by the expression of nature, strong, nomadic and poetic, Dune pour Homme is a fragrance of wind, relaxation and freshness, according to Dior.
Logically, the advertising campaign for Dune Homme would follow the same criteria as its illustrious predecessor. A beach, opposing winds, a man dressed in white (David Fumero, a model) and a warm, pure sand-colored backdrop as the setting for sophisticated and always very elegant images.
However, in 1998, Dune Homme revealed its full kinship with Dune Femme by unveiling an advertisement that featured both fragrances together with their respective faces of the campaign, all while staying true to the idyllic setting of the beautiful beach.
A fragrance that exudes the beauty of natural elements: Dune pour Homme
The bottle of Dune Homme presents itself differently from its feminine counterpart, which does not prevent it from displaying an elegant and sophisticated shape! Entirely curved, the lovely Dune Homme seduces with its square shoulders and its sculpted hips, as if to present man in all the gentleness of his strength...
As brilliantly as its alter ego, Dune Homme seduces with its delicately woody sea breeze scattered with a few touches of sweetness that create a pure and dreamlike fragrant composition...
The top notes of basil and mandarin offer a dynamic and aromatic opening to the fragrance. As for the fig leaf accord accompanied by a precious blackcurrant leaf accord, they bring their fruity scents as well as green and sun-kissed facets, already inviting escape! Then the heart of hedione captivates us with its intense freshness of lemon and flower scents, magnified by notes of rose and mignonette. The nervy and powerful Virginia cedar, accompanied by the masterful woods of sandalwood and tonka bean, gives this iodic freshness its share of mystery and woody sensuality, not forgetting a touch of vanilla sweetness to great effect.
If Dune pour femme was long praised for the quality of its composition, Dune Homme has nothing to envy it. Olivier Cresp managed to magnify its raw materials to take us, too, into the spaces he intended for us, down to the grain of sand! Dune pour Homme is a green oceanic woody fragrance, a fragrance of escape, according to Dior for Dune Homme.
It is the offshore current, the softness of sand on the shore, the strength of the elements and the energy of life, according to Dior for Dune Homme.
