Fève Délicieuse

Dior launched Fève Délicieuse in 2015 in La Collection Privée Christian Dior. François Demachy composed an oriental gourmand around tonka bean, which he wanted both sweet and slightly bitter, paired with a warm, lightly smoky vanilla; bergamot and rose bring freshness. Kafkaesque mostly smells a dark vanilla, silky and ambery by the end.

Dior introduced Fève Délicieuse in spring 2015 in La Collection Privée Christian Dior, its line of exceptional fragrances reserved for its boutiques and a few department stores. The eau de parfum is built around a Venezuelan tonka bean absolute.

A seed between caramel, hay and praline

Dior points out that tonka bean is a seed with a smooth scent, somewhere between caramel, hay and praline. François Demachy, its perfumer-creator, wanted to give a personal representation of it: an exercise in composition that plays on the seed’s contrasts, its sweetness as well as its hint of bitterness.

The perfumer speaks of a gourmand temptation, a sweetness that refuses to be saccharine. He says he chose tonka bean for its slightly rough roundness, a treat that makes the mouth water while keeping its share of mystery. The house has also made a candle from it.
