In 2020 Dior Homme takes back the name of the 2005 masculine for a new composition by François Demachy, woody where the original was powdery: the former eau de toilette becomes Dior Homme Original. The house describes a polyphony of raw and smooth woods, in which Atlas cedar embraces a spiced Haitian vetiver around a heart of patchouli.
Persolaise finds the 2020 version well made and easy to wear, but regrets that it erases the ambiguities that had made the original a classic. He reads in it the portrait of a man who allows himself only clear, conservative statements.

Well made, without ambiguity, for Persolaise
Persolaise discovers the new Dior Homme in February 2020 and finds it far from a failure: still well constructed, easy to wear. He regrets, however, that the ambiguities of Olivier Polge’s composition, which had made it an instant classic, have been completely flattened.
The Dior man of 2020, he writes, has time only for clear, conservative statements. In March, he adds that the fragrance seems to strike a chord with an idea of contemporary masculinity narrower than the one that welcomed Dior Homme’s iris in 2005.
