What could be more inspiring than love for conceiving new creations? It was by drawing inspiration from one of the most beautiful romances that the timeless Shalimar by Guerlain was built… It all began during a trip to India by Pierre and Jacques Guerlain. It was there that they discovered the legend of Emperor Shah Jahan and his wife Mumtaz Mahal. Deeply in love with one another, they lived their romance in the gardens of Shalimar. When Mumtaz Mahal died, her husband decided to have the most beautiful of mausoleums built on that site, in her honor. Today, the monument is among the most visited places on the planet. It is the Taj Mahal. It was therefore by drawing inspiration from it that the Guerlain family crafted Shalimar. A hundred years later, its renown endures with Shalimar Millésime Tonka.

The timeless bottle of Guerlain's Shalimar

While the scent of Shalimar has been somewhat transformed, its style, for its part, remains largely the same. Its bottle preserves its very Art Deco shape, while also recalling the fans that were highly prized at that time. Its amber color, meanwhile, perfectly echoes the sensual warmth of this fragrance. Its blue cap recalls the swirls of water gushing from the fountains of the Shalimar gardens.
