Sambac jasmine (Jasminum sambac) is a jasmine species native to South and Southeast Asia, where it has been cultivated for centuries for ornamental, religious and perfumery purposes. It is the national flower of the Philippines and is widely used in religious ceremonies in India. Its small, highly fragrant white flowers bloom mainly at night.

Sambac jasmine absolute is obtained by solvent extraction of the fresh flowers, hand-picked before dawn to preserve their scent. Its olfactory profile differs from that of grandiflorum jasmine through a more pronounced floral intensity, a creamy and slightly fruity facet, with nuances of tea and a characteristic milky sweetness.

In perfumery, sambac jasmine is used in intense florals, floral orientals and high perfumery compositions. It brings a floral richness and a complexity that few other raw materials can match. Its production, mainly in India, China and Egypt, makes it a precious raw material whose cost reflects the delicacy of the harvest.
